With the continuous development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,more and more people pay attention to the quality of teaching materials in Chinese as a foreign language,and illustration,as a key part of teaching materials arrangement,is related to the quality of teaching materials.If the illustrations in Chinese textbooks are arranged properly,they can not only arouse the attention of learners,but also cultivate their interest in learning Chinese.The key is to assist the teacher to teach new knowledge with pictures and texts,which is also of great help to learners to understand and remember the text information of the textbook.Therefore,it is necessary to analyze and investigate the illustration configuration of current Chinese textbooks.This paper takes the illustrations in the textbooks of "Huitong Chinese" and "Developing Chinese" as the research object,and analyzes the arrangement,function and application status of illustrations.Based on the statistical analysis of the illustrations in "Hui-tong Chinese" and "Developing Chinese",we find that there are some problems in the content and form of some of the illustrations in these two textbooks.The problems of illustration content include :(1)some illustrations are inconsistent with each other;(2)illustrations are too implicit and abstract;(3)The selection of some illustrations is random and the degree of rigor is low;(4)illustrations lack typicality;(5)Improper use of illustrations.The problems in the form of illustrations are as follows :(1)the number of some types of illustrations is not balanced,and there are too many or too few problems;(2)Improper arrangement of illustrations;(3)the aesthetic sense of illustrations is low;(4)illustration distortion;(5)The color of the illustration is inappropriate.In the practice investigation,this paper investigates and analyzes the use of illustrations in two sets of textbooks from the perspectives of teachers and students.The study found that both teachers and students agreed with the two sets of textbooks.Then we discuss the factors that influence the use of illustrations in textbooks,and conclude that there is a certain relationship between students' acquisition of Chinese and the arrangement of illustrations in textbooks,and it is also related to the level of Chinese teachers' teaching of illustrations in actual Chinese classes.In the end,this paper puts forward three suggestions on illustrations in Chinese textbooks :(1)from the perspective of textbook writers,it puts forward some suggestions on how to arrange illustrations reasonably,how to control the layout and quantity of illustrations;(2)Suggestions are put forward from the aspects of content and form,including the relevance of pictures and texts,typicality,the position and quantity of illustrations,and the addition of explanatory words.(3)Suggestions are put forward from the aspect of users,such as teachers can build their own library of illustrations and students should pay attention to the introduction of illustrations.The conclusion of this paper summarizes the research situation and main conclusions,points out the shortcomings of this study,and makes further prospects for the future research.
