The Effect Of Fear Of Negative Evaluations On College Students' Mobile Phone Dependence: The Mediating Role Of Loneliness And Positive Self-presentation

Mobile phone dependence is one of the topics that the public pay close attention to,and it is also an important research object in the field of psychology.How to prevent and reduce mobile phone dependence is an urgent problem.This study aims to explore the influence of fear of negative evaluation on mobile phone dependence,and analyze the relationship between loneliness,positive self-presentation and mobile phone dependence,as well as the role of loneliness and positive self-presentation between fear of negative evaluation and mobile phone dependence.In this study,592 college students were investigated by using brief fear of negative evaluation scale,college students’ mobile phone addiction tendency scale,UCLA loneliness scale and positive self-presentation scale.The data were analyzed by SPSS and SPSS macro program process.(1)The average score of College Students’ mobile phone dependence is medium,which is in the range of possible mobile phone dependence.(2)There are significant differences in gender and mobile phone use duration of college students’ fear of negative evaluation.The level of female students’ fear of negative evaluation is higher than that of male students.(3)The more time college students spend on mobile phones,the more obvious their mobile phone dependence behavior is.(4)There are gender differences in college students’ positive self-presentation,and the level of female students’ positive self-presentation is higher than that of male students.(5)Fear of negative evaluation,mobile phone dependence,loneliness and positive selfpresentation were positively correlated.(6)Fear of negative evaluation has a positive effect on mobile phone dependence;loneliness plays a mediating role in the relationship between fear of negative evaluation and mobile phone dependence;positive self-presentation plays a mediating role in the relationship between fear of negative evaluation and mobile phone dependence;loneliness and positive selfpresentation play a chain mediating role in the relationship between fear of negative evaluation and mobile phone dependence.
