In recent years,picture books teaching has been attracting more and more attention.Under the background of core competencies,more and more features of English picture teaching appear.Many researchers and schools are trying to carry out kinds of effective picture book teaching activities.Especially in recent years,the thinking quality is becoming a key standard of deciding students' core competencies.Many researchers are paying more attention on the study of the thinking quality.However,most of them focused on the studies of university students and middle school students.There are only a few studies focused on the primary students.There are limited practical studies on the thinking quality of primary school students.Therefore,this study based on the basic theories.Meanwhile,the author put the theories into the practice of primary school picture book teaching.The author is looking forward to providing some reference value to the cultivation of primary school thinking quality.This study chose the picture books as study materials.By means of classroom observation method and interview,the author carried out the situation of the teachers' English picture book teaching in T city.Seeing from the cultivation of the thinking quality,the author analyzed the situation and data.Finally,the author put forward some strategies.This study is going to answer the following questions:1.How is the cultivation of students' three dimensions of thinking quality on logical thinking,critical thinking and creative thinking in primary school picture book teaching?2.Seeing from the perspective of thinking quality cultivation,how do teachers carry out primary English picture book classroom teaching?3.What kinds of problems exist in the cultivation of thinking quality in primary school English picture book teaching?Through the study,the author found the following points:(1)Through classroom observation of eight teachers' picture book teaching in primary school,it is found that the situation of students' thinking quality in picture book teaching in primary school is not optimistic,especially in the cultivation of students' critical and creative thinking.(2)Through the analysis of typical teaching cases of classroom observation and interview,it is found that teachers adopted some teaching methods to cultivate students' thinking quality more or less in teaching activities.In primary school English picture book teaching,they adopted the methods of picture walk and picture classification to cultivate students' logical thinking.They cultivate students' critical thinking by predicting the plots,questioning and discussing.And they adopted creative activities such as adapting stories,performing shows and drawing mind maps to cultivate students' creative thinking after reading.(3)Through Interview,the author found that there are also some problems in the cultivation of students' thinking quality in picture book teaching due to the influence of exam oriented education,teaching time and teachers' own factors.Teachers lack a better understanding of the thinking quality,and they do not pay enough attention to the importance of cultivating students' thinking quality in picture book teaching,and teachers do not pay enough attention to the cultivation of students' thinking quality in picture book teaching and so on.At the same time,the author puts forward some reference suggestions to improve the primary school English picture book teaching.
