| Among the many writers in the history of modern and contemporary literature who drew nourishment from classical novels,Eileen Chang is not the only one who can form her own unique style,but is also the most conscious and successful in this regard.This article is based on Eileen Chang’s novel and the classical novel "Jin Ping Mei",and uses close reading of the text to explore the relationship between the two,researching how Eileen Chang views the classic in the classical novel-"Jin Ping Mei",and "Jin Ping Mei" is also how to influence Eileen Chang in thought and novel writing.Through research,I have a clearer,three-dimensional and profound understanding of the inheritance relationship between Eileen Chang and classical novels,which provides reference value for related research.This article analyzes the influence of Eileen Chang’s novel creation from "Jin Ping Mei" in several aspects.The full text is divided into the following chapters.The first chapter expounds the origin of Eileen Chang and Chinese classical novels.The old-style cultural education and edification given to her by the declining aristocratic family not only made her love classical novels,but more importantly,provided a lot of material for her later literary creation.Among many classical novels,the influence of "Jin Ping Mei" and "A Dream of Red Mansions" on her is particularly prominent.She claimed that "Jin Ping Mei" and "A Dream of Red Mansions" are the source of everything.These two books have inspired and nourished her writing skills,life insights,and ways of thinking.The second chapter discusses the reference of artistic method,which is the most traceable evidence that Eileen Chang’s novel drew nourishment from "Jin Ping Mei".This includes the use of characters,the similarity of language use,and the reference and learning of imagery such as clothing and colors.Sadness is filled with a struggling female world and selfish and cowardly male images;the obvious golden vase in the scenes and dialogues in the early works and the later internalization of it,forming a "flat and near-natural style."
