| Singapore is located around the equator.As a new,young and highly developed country,Singapore has the characteristics of " Multiracialism,Multilanguage,Multiculture and Multi religion".Buddhism was introduced into Singapore with Chinese immigrants.It has made great progress in the past half century and has become the main religious belief in Singapore.Among them,Buddhism education plays an important role.Based on the development history of Buddhism in Singapore,taking Pujue temple in Guangming mountain as the main case,this paper makes a systematic study of Buddhism Education in Singapore,analyzes the status of Buddhism Education in different historical stages,and summarizes the characteristics of Buddhism Education in Singapore.Pujue temple in Guangming mountain and its subordinate Singapore Buddhist College concentrate the establishment and development process of Buddhism Education in Singapore.Buddhism Education in Singapore includes two aspects: one is monk education,that is,traditional jungle education and modern Buddhist College Education,and the other is social education,which is based on Buddhist classics and relying on temples or monasteries to provide believers with a platform to learn Buddhist wisdom and practical opportunities.The Pujue temple in Guangming mountain has brought fresh power to Buddhism in Singapore in these two areas,which highlights the indispensable role of Buddhism Education in the development of Buddhism in Singapore.As the mainstream cultural belief in Singapore,the development of Buddhism affects the social development of Singapore.Therefore,Buddhism education is reflected in three aspects: first,it inherits the traditional education function of Buddhism;second,it extends the social education function of Buddhism;third,it complements the government function and promotes the multi-cultural integration and development of Singapore.In addition,this paper also looks forward to the future Buddhist Education in Singapore. |
