Gamelan is a percussion-based instrumental ensemble consisting mainly of percussion instruments such as Kendang,Kenong,Gender,Saron and Gambang,as well as orchestral instruments such as Suling,Rebab and Celempung.It is one of the most important musical cultures in Indonesia.Located in Central Java,the Yogyakarta court was founded in the mid-18 th century and continues to this day.More than 20 gamelan Musical Instruments are preserved in the court,and the daily gamelan music performance is also a typical example of the Javanese gamelan style.However,the gamelan music of the Yogyakarta court did not follow the inheritance of "authenticity" completely,but under the influence of various foreign cultures,it presented a state of coexistence of the continuation of the classical tradition and the change caused by absorbing new elements.So that neither can enjoy in Yogyakarta court dressed in traditional costumes,Abdi dalem's play traditional gamelan music,also can see gamelan and western brass section performance form,invented and used by western music inspired by almost dike Kepatihan notation,and so on,these seem to have with "the protection and inheritance of traditional art" in the palace of Yogyakarta status localization.Thus,yogyakarta palace of gamelan special heritage has become a core problem are discussed in this paper.From the research perspective of structural functionalism,the palace gamelan has reiple functional structures of entertainment,religion and politics.From the perspective of this functional change,it can be found that the inheritance of the palace gamelan is firstly based on the constantly changing cultural and religious soil,which not only provides a relatively loose environment for the inheritance of the palace gamelan,but also infuses new cultural elements into the gamelan music.Secondly,the colonial history,depoliticization and tourism measures had different effects on the entertainment,religious and political functions of the palace gamelanthus from a more specific level,and under the combined action of these factors,the inheritance of the palace gamelanthus in Yogyakarta presented a special state of continuity and change.
