Zhao Zhiqian is the pioneer of the "Shanghai School" and the founder of the "Jinshi Painting School".The mid to late 19 th century he was in was the period when Chinese native painters tried to integrate Western paintings.It was a new direction for the painting tradition of Chinese painting for thousands of years.The period of transformation.Although the literati paintings,courtyard paintings,and folk art of the past dynasties all have traces of mutual influence,Zhao Zhiqian’s integration is relatively transparent,so his flower-and-bird paintings have a different understanding and understanding of the colors of his predecessors.Zhao Zhiqian’s flower-and-bird paintings use the traditional Chinese cultural connotation to contain their rich and colorful colors,which are ancient and beautiful.They also integrate the coldness,brightness,purity and other consciousness of Western colors with traditional Chinese colors to exude a different color brilliance.This article forms the background from the color characteristics of Zhao Zhiqian’s flower and bird paintings;the initial analysis shows that Zhao Zhiqian’s use of color is bold and rich;the in-depth analysis shows that the color of his flower and bird paintings is a fusion of "Ancient Yan" and "Xinhui";Enlightenment of Runzhong.Through layer-by-layer analysis,it is concluded that Zhao Zhiqian’s flower-and-bird paintings are characterized by "Gu Yan Xinhui".Finally,based on the author’s personal creative experience,Zhao Zhiqian’s absorption and reference of color theory are explained,hoping to be helpful to his future exploration of the personal style of flower and bird painting.
