| The source text of the English-Chinese translation practice report is taken from pragmatic translation works,Translation and Tourism: Strategies for Effective Cross-Cultural Promotion.The author analyzes the reasons for the poor translation quality of tourism promotion materials and assumes that interpreters should grasp three non-linguistic skills: agility,persuasiveness and creativity and adopt methods and strategies of cultural concepts to deal with the problems caused by cultural differences in Chapter Three and Four so as to establish a perfect destination image.In the translating process,we are managing to solve various translation problems of words and sentences in the source text,with the translation thought guided by the text typology theory,aiming to make the realization of informative and operative text functions.In terms of vocabulary in the text,four-character phrases strategy is adopted to translate the adjectives.Abstract extension and conversion of parts of speech are proper ways to translating the nouns with connotative meanings,which are sure to make the Chinese versions smooth and accurate.As for complex sentences and structures in the original,such translation skills as inversion,conversion and division are employed to deal with different type of clauses.The purpose of this translation report is to summarize the translation methods and techniques,in the hope of providing reference for translation practice of tourism texts. |
