On Mark Twain's Humorous Art Style And Its Acceptance In China

Mark Twain's works,which are full of humorous artistic style,are a funhouse mirror of American social reality in the 19 th century,and have a profound influence on the development of humorous literature in the world including China.This paper explores the factors that contribute to the formation of the artistic style of Mark Twain humor and its translation and reception in China through text analysis,context tracing,technique interpretation and influence.The study found that Mark Twain's artistic style of humor was shaped not only by his own upbringing,at the same time,it has absorbed the humorous literary nutrients including American frontier humor legends,local color literature,political critical irony and classic literary parody,etc.,it makes his humorous artistic style have strong American local color and strong criticism to American political real life,and the core feature of his humorous artistic style is the disharmony of various elements,it includes the incongruity between character and social ethics,the incongruity between background and real events,the incongruity between subjective intention and objective result,the incongruity between folk dialect and standard language,etc.China's acceptance of Mark Twain's humorous artistic style has experienced the vicissitudes of the times and exerted an important influence.Through the banter and absurdity in his humorous creation,the Chinese literati have been prompted to reflect on the stale and decayed political society,it has played an important role in enlightening the People's wisdom and promoting the development of the Chinese literary thought,which is shown in the absorption and reference of Lu Xun,Lao She,Wang Xiaobo and other writers to his humorous artistic creation.Of particular concern is that,the introduction and acceptance of Mark Twain's humorous artistic style in Chinese language education in primary and middle schools has played a positive role in improving the humanistic quality,literary appreciation and personality of contemporary China.
