The source text is selected from the Chapter 7 and 8 of Achieving the Sustainable Management of Forests, which was written by Alastair Fraser in 2019.This book mainly focuses on the management of forests, and belongs to the scientific text.In this translation practice report, the author mainly studies from three aspects: the use of delexical verbs, the conversion of part-of-speech and the translation of participle construction, and summarizes specific strategies and methods of the translation.First of all,the structure of the verb plus verb’s transformation words or derivatives are often used in the source text, the author translates these converted words or derivatives into verbs, and omits the empty verbs.Secondly, static expressions such as nouns, adjectives and prepositions are often used to express the meaning of action. When translating these words, the author uses the translation method of conversion of part-of-speech to translate them into verbs. Finally, the author also summarizes the translation methods of participle construction in the text. The participle construction can be translated into clauses, verb parallel clauses or extrapositive sentences when it is used as adverbial;and the participle construction can be translated into pre-attribute,adverbial and clause when it is used as attributive. All in all, this translation practice aims to enrich the research on translation of scientific texts.
