Library science originates from the concrete library practice.The knowledge of literature collection,arrangement and utilization has laid a solid foundation for the evolution of library science.Library science is a developing subject,keeping pace with The Times.Along with the development of modern information technology,library science has constantly integrated multidisciplinary knowledge,looking forward to a broader prospect of development.Under nowadays network environment,profound changes are taking place in library science,the research focus gradually shifting to the development and use of information resources.The vitality of library science depends on the development of library science education.China's library science education started in 1920,after more than half a century's turbulent,master's in library science grow out of nothing.In 1980s,it officially stepped in the master's level of higher education.As an important part of library science education system,master's education is the mainstay of training high-level and applied talents which is urgently needed by the society.What kind of talent can be cultivated is largely influenced by the curriculum,and the currriculum knowledge system determines the direction of the curriculum.Library science is a humanity science,but along with the current boom in Internet technology,it starts to lean toward to science and technology.How to define the subject orientation,balance the critical point between humanity and science,explores a sustainable development path for the vigorous development of library science is a difficult problem.Therefore,this article takes the curriculum knowledge system as the breakthrough point and focusing on the knowledge content of master's courses in library science of nine universities.The purpose lies in find the problems and throw out suggestions.In the process of research,author adheres to the methodology of combining theory with practice,combines network research method and content analysis method.The research is divided into four parts.The first part includes Chapter one and Chapter two.In the first place,this article introduces the background and significance of this thesis,expounds the relevant research status of domestic and overseas,explained the basic research methods and analyzes the feasibility of this study.Next,it gives a basic definition of relevant research concepts states some relevant theories of curriculum reform.This part sets up an analytical framework for the whole paper.The second part includes Chapter three and Chapter four.Chapter three selects University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,University of Washington and Syracuse University for investigation.The research content includes the training program,the name of the course,the nature of the course,the credit of the course.Courses are divided into four types:theory and basic course,technology and method course,comprehensive and applied course and interdisciplinary course.Chapter four selects Nanjing University,Sun Yat-sen University,Jilin University,Central China Normal University and Heilongjiang University for investigation.Studies are analyzed from four dimensions:public basic courses,professional basic courses,professional field courses and integrated practice courses.It tries to find out the deficiency of library science curriculum knowledge system in China.This part provides data support for the whole paper.The third part is Chapter five.This part summarizes recent five years' research fields of library science both in China and the United States.It hopes that the integrity and systematicness of the curriculum knowledge system can be verified by analyzing the correlation between research hot spots and master's curriculum setting.It turns out that American's library science has a high repetition rate between research hot spots and curriculum while the curriculum of our country hasn't enough coverage.It shows a tendency of"emphasizing technology over humanity".This part enriches the reliability of the study.The fourth part is Chapter six.It points out the problems existing in the knowledge system of master of library science in China and put forward some suggestions.It is hoped that this paper can provide guidance for the follow-up education of library science in China.This part makes a conclusion of this research.From what has been discussed above,this paper focuses on the development of the knowledge system of the master of library science of nine universities and analyses the correlation between subject research hots pot and curriculum setting.Insufficients are founded and suggestions for improvement are put forward.
