In order to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and cultivate well-rounded builders and successors of socialism,the Ministry of Education launches a new round of curriculum reform focused on the cultivation of student' key competencies."General Senior High School Geography Curriculum Standards(2017Edition)" clearly proposes to make the course content contextualized,and the teachers need to create vivid and interesting situations in geography teaching in accordance with the level of students' development,interests and the reality of social life,so as to promote the cultivation of students' geographic key competencies.By means of literature research,questionnaire survey and class observation,this research investigates and analyzes the current status of the creation of situations pointing to key competencies in geography teaching in senior high school,and it reckons that the teachers create all kinds of situations in geography teaching,and students' geographic key competencies can be improved,which also conforms with the requirements of the new curriculum standards.Through the methods of questionnaire survey and class observation,the existing questions of the current status of the creation of situations pointing to key competencies in geography teaching in senior high school can be found in the following:(1)the geography teachers have insufficient theoretical understanding of the geographic key competencies and situations in geography teaching;(2)some geography teachers are unable to fully grasp the organization and implementation process of the creation of situations in geography teaching,and their creative skills remain to be strengthened;(3)facing diversification of difficulties;(4)insufficient emphasis of teachers on applying situations in geography teaching to cultivate geographic key competencies;(5)senior high school students have a deficient understanding of the connotation of situations in geography teaching and geographic key competencies;(6)dissatisfaction of students' needs for situations in geography teaching;(7)the setting of the teaching objectives of geographic key competencies is not clear enough;(8)The method of creating is single and in lack of innovation;(9)the school does not pay enough attention to the creation of situations in geography teaching and the cultivation of geographic key competencies;(10)the school narrows the way of creation and cultivation.As for the above problems,this study put forwards the following strategies from four aspects: teachers' teaching improvement strategies,students' learning improvement strategies,in-class cultivation strategies,and extracurricular practice strategies:(1)in terms of the teachers:(1)strengthen the study of theoretical knowledge and form a systematic cognitive system;(2)grasp the organizing and implementing process to improve the ability of the creation of situations in geography teaching;(3)reduce teaching pressure and enrich the material sources of situations in geography teaching;(4)improve the teachers' degree of emphasis on applying situations in geography teaching to cultivate geographic key competencies.(2)in terms of the students:(1)teachers' guidance and deep learning;(2)increase the number of scenes and improve the quality of scenes.(3)in terms of curricular aspects:(1)clarity of teaching objectives;(2)diversify and optimized the method of creation.(4)in terms of extracurricular aspects:(1)enhance the attention to school's creation of situations in geography teaching and cultivation of geographic key competencies;(2)carry out diversified practical activities.Finally,based on this research,a case study of applying situations in geography teaching to cultivate students' geographic key competencies is designed to provide examples for the front-line teaching.
