Primary students' scientific attitude is mainly formed and developed in class inquiry activities since they are the main way to receive the relevant acknowledgment.However,scientific inquiry activities only focus on the completion of the inquiry task,which has ignored the students' subjectivity and the inquiry content is too simple.After sorting out the previous research results,it is found that although scholars have carried out related researches on scientific inquiry activities and scientific attitude,they mostly take middle school students as the research objects and tend to put forward principles and methods to cultivate scientific attitude based on inquiry activities,while they seldom analyze the impact of existing problems in inquiry activities on scientific attitude.Therefore,centering on scientific inquiry activities of the upper grades in primary schools,this paper investigates the current situation along with the conditions in students' attitudes towards science,then it analyzes the tendency and existing problems as well as their impact on students' attitudes towards science.Besides,it is expected to improve teachers' understanding of scientific inquiry activities,clarify the relationship between scientific inquiry activities and students' scientific attitudes,so as to provide feasible suggestions for scientific inquiry activities in primary schools.A survey was conducted in YX Primary School for one semester.A Questionnaire on the Status of Scientific Inquiry Activities in the Senior Grade of Primary School was compiled by selecting students of 6 classes in Grade 5 and Grade 6,as well as 6 science teachers,with pre-test and modification.A total of 300 students in 6 classes were investigated,with a total of 42 science classes recorded by means of behavioral verification and classroom recording.According to the results of the questionnaire,combined with the results of classroom observation and interview,this paper described the present situation of scientific inquiry activities and students' scientific attitude in the senior grade of primary school,and analyzed the characteristics of scientific inquiry activities in the senior grade of primary school.According to the investigation:(1)The scientific inquiry activities in the senior grade of primary school were at the general level,including Inquiry subject,inquiry interaction,inquiry content and inquiry method;(2)The scientific attitude of the senior students was at the general level,cooperation and sharing were at the good level,interest in inquiry,seeking truth from facts and pursuing innovation are at a general level;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between each dimension of the scientific inquiry activities and students' scientific attitude.Five conclusions are drawn after having the analysis and discussion :(1)There is a tendency of unidirectional linear,heavy experimental method in the exploration activities,which mainly explores scientific facts;(2)Inquiry activities have the problems of single interaction,single content and insufficient integration,also students can't reasonably use inquiry methods;(3)The level of scientific inquiry of Grade 6 students is significantly higher than that of Grade 5;(4)The overall level of the higher grade students' attitude towards science is average,and there are significant differences in the attitude towards science among those of different grades;(5)Scientific inquiry activities are significantly correlated with scientific attitude,by contrast,the subject,content,method and interaction have certain negative influence on students' high-level interest in inquiry,analysis and demonstration,expression and sharing as well as pursuit of innovation.Based on the above research,the following suggestions were put forward:(1)pay attention to the main position of students in scientific inquiry activities,improve students' participation in various inquiry links;(2)communicate equally with students,guide students to discuss effectively,enhance the level and openness of interactive content,expand students' imagination and thinking space;(3)Change teachers' ideas of scientific inquiry,enrich and integrate the contents;(4)guide students to use inquiry method effectively and strengthen students' scientific reasoning process.
