With the vigorous development of sports, various sports events are in full swing. In addition to large-scale competitive sports events with high commercial value and brand value, mass sports events have also begun to develop strongly. In 2019,the Outline for Building a Leading Sports Nation pointed out that extensive national fitness activities should be carried out,a mass competition activity system and incentive mechanism should be established, and social forces should be encouraged to hold various forms of sports events. In 2020,the State General Administration of Sport issued the Management Approach of Sports Events and made specific regulations and requirements for the development of sports events, further highlighting the important role of sports events in promoting the development of sports. In 2020,affected by the epidemic, new trends in the development of sports events in the post-epidemic era are thought-provoking.Volunteer service is an important part of sports events. How to construct a new model of sports event volunteer service to meet the new demands of sports events and promote the orderly development of sports events has become a concern of scholars. At this stage, most of the volunteers in sports events have problems of high irregularity, randomness, and mobility, and there are fewer opportunities for volunteers to continue to provide volunteer services. These result lower efficiency of volunteer recruitment and a longer period, and volunteer training is undifferentiated and less targeted. To further explore what factors affect the retention behavior of sports volunteers, this study uses Bandura's interactive determination theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory as the theoretical basis, from the perspective of individual volunteers, voluntary service environment, and volunteer behavior to explore the key factors of volunteer retention behavior in each dimension. The research combines the results of existing research literature and the characteristics of volunteer services in sports events, and uses questionnaire surveys and systematic scientific methods to construct an interpretative structural modeling of factors affecting the retention behavior of volunteers in sports events. The analysis shows that,on the one hand, when volunteers participate in voluntary service activities, the acquisition of individual service responsibility and individual service pleasure has a direct and major influence on the volunteer retention behavior.Self-development,personal status, personal achievement and others' appreciation and support have an indirect effect on volunteer behavior by influencing the acquisition of individual service responsibility and individual service pleasure. On the other hand, welfare benefits have a direct restrictive effect on the occurrence of volunteer retention behavior.Based on this, the research puts forward the following countermeasures and suggestions.Firstly,at the individual level of volunteer service,we should focus on shaping goodly social values of volunteer service and optimizing the dynamic mechanism of volunteer service, and realize the retention behavior of volunteers through appropriate incentives.Secondly,at the level of volunteer service environment,we should focus on improving the legal system of volunteer service and the management system of volunteer service organization.Lastly, for the individual behavior of volunteers,a sound monitoring mechanism and evaluation system should be established to better monitor and valuation system should be established to better monitor and feedback the behavior of volunteers.
