High school geography course standard put forward to cultivate students core geography literacy,the implementation of the Suggestions,geography teaching requires teachers to scientific design process,and guide students through the autonomy,cooperation,explore learning geography in real situations,to develop the habit of autonomous learning,cooperative learning and inquiry learning,improve the ability of autonomous learning.The key is to stimulate and maintain students' learning motivation in order to make students have internal demand for learning geography and take the initiative to learn.Therefore,teachers should actively explore effective teaching strategies to stimulate and maintain students' learning motivation so as to promote students' development.ARCS Motivation Model was proposed by Professor Keller from the United States.Its name originates from the first letter of its four elements of motivation,which are Attention,Relevance,Confidence,and Satisfaction.This model is dedicated to how to optimize the teaching design.Achieve the purpose of arousing students' learning enthusiasm.At present,more and more researches are devoted to applying this model to basic education.Through practical researches,it is found that this model is highly operable and can guide teachers to stimulate and maintain students' learning motivation through teaching design.Under the guidance of ARCS motivational model theory,based on high school students' cognitive characteristics and specific subject teaching content,this paper uses case analysis,comprehensive analysis and other methods to explain the four elements of this motivational model: attention,relevance,confidence and satisfaction.At the same time,this paper puts forward the principles and strategies of applying ARCS motivational model to geography teaching design,and discusses how to apply ARCS motivational model to specific subjects with specific cases.Taking "Differences of Natural Geographic Environment" and "Agricultural Location Factors and Their Changes" as examples,this paper explores how to design high school geography teaching based on ARCS motivational model,and reflects and summarizes the problems found in the research and how to better use this model.Through the study,the following conclusions are drawn: 1.The geography teaching design based on this model mainly takes the four elements of the model as a whole to explore how to stimulate and maintain students' learning motivation.The systematic teaching design can improve the interest,variability and effectiveness of the class and enhance students' learning motivation.All elements are important,and the absence of any of them is not conducive to maintaining students' motivation.2.The model under the guidance of instructional design,the four elements throughout,make every teaching link,according to the can depend on the whole in the design of teaching attaches importance to students' learning motivation arouse and maintain,make the teaching design is not only pay attention to the design of the knowledge,but also focus on students' learning ability,pay attention to their psychological development and growth of the design.3.Each link of this model attaches importance to using different teaching situations to stimulate and maintain students' learning motivation,which will inevitably limit the selection of teaching content,because part of the content is not suitable for setting teaching context,so teachers should flexibly choose and use the content according to different teaching contents in the actual application process.4.The adoption of this mode in teaching design requires high requirements on teachers' own abilities.First of all,this mode focuses on students' personality development,which requires teachers to fully understand students' physical and mental development and other aspects of the situation.Secondly,in the course of teaching design,teachers need not only professional knowledge and accomplishment,but also certain theoretical knowledge.In addition,teachers should constantly strengthen learning,keep pace with The Times,and design teaching plans to be full of life and the atmosphere of The Times,to meet the learning needs of students to the greatest extent.Finally,if instructional design is to be put into teaching practice,in order to better play the role of the model,attention should be paid to the creation of a good classroom atmosphere and the fairness and justice of the evaluation methods of learning outcomes.As a model in line with the educational concept of the new era,ARCS motivational model provides teachers with a new way of thinking for teaching design.However,in order to make good use of this model,teachers need to continue to explore,dig more teaching materials,seek better teaching strategies,and further promote the integration of this model and subject teaching.
