Since the reform and opening up,with the decline in the social fertility rate in our country, the increase in personal autonomy, and the increase in the mobility of children, the traditional family model of several generations living together in rural areas has been broken, and miniaturization has become a new trend in the development of family scales. It also makes the number of elderly people living alone in rural areas increase. However,on the other hand, due to the insufficient supply of old-age care resources in my country, the large gap between supply and demand, and the continuous improvement of people's requirements for living standards, the problems faced by these rural elderly living alone in old-age care have become increasingly prominent. In the process of coping with the aging of the population, the mutual assistance pension model emerging in some areas at home and abroad has gradually been recognized and accepted by people. In terms of the current situation in my country's rural areas, the mutual assistance model should also be a better way to solve the increasingly serious problem of elderly people living alone in rural areas. However, due to various reasons, the mutual assistance model for elderly people living alone in rural areas in our country is still very imperfect. To achieve ideal development, coordinated promotion in related fields is indispensable.Among them, because social work and mutual assistance for the aged are highly compatible with each other in terms of concepts and goals, they are of great significance to promote their development. This research is based on active aging theory, system theory and superior perspective theory.Taking the elderly living alone in L Village,Linxia Prefecture,Gansu Province as an example, the group work method is used to intervene in the practice process of mutual assistance for the elderly, and its effect and applicability are studied.First, through field research and literature review,we understand the existing problems of elderly living alone in L village, and analyze the causes of these problems from the four levels of individual, family, society, and government,so as to prepare for the later intervention of group work.Secondly,in order to intervene in mutual assistance for the elderly living alone in rural areas, the workers have designed seven group activities for them in response to the difficulties they are facing and uphold the concept of mutual assistance for the elderly. After the event,it was evaluated from multiple angles, and it was found that this group work intervention had good results, and of course there were some shortcomings. Finally,in response to the problems that emerged in the group work involved in the process of mutual assistance for the elderly living alone in rural areas, the workers put forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions in order to provide support for the further improvement of the rural mutual assistance service system.
