As the main source of basic education teachers in our country,the growth and development of normal university students will directly affect the strength of the construction of basic teachers and the level of the quality of basic education.Although the current studies on the professional growth of normal university students in China have many perspectives,they generally do not put forward the corresponding evaluation standards and the evaluation methods are relatively single.Although the opinions put forward have their own advantages,most of them still stay at the level of professional training and ignore the important role of students themselves in professional growth.Therefore,taking geography as an example,this paper tries to formulate assessment criteria for the professional growth of geography teacher-training students on the basis of national documents,investigate and evaluate the current situation of professional growth of geography science(teacher-training)students at Nanjing Normal University through a combination of qualitative and quantitative,direct and indirect evaluation methods,discover the strengths and weaknesses,and then make suggestions for improving the current professional growth path of geography teacher-training students from three dimensions: teacher-training students themselves,professional personnel training and internship cooperation schools.Based on the above research ideas,this thesis study is divided into three main parts.First,the establishment of professional growth assessment criteria and methods for geography teacher trainees are introduced.In order to promote the development of the quality assessment of teacher-training students' professional growth and the growth and success of teacher-training students in the direction of meeting the current needs of basic education,the assessment criteria for the professional growth of geography teacher-training students were formulated based on the graduation requirements in the document "Accreditation of Teacher Training Programs in General Higher Education Institutions(Secondary Education Level 3)",combined with the subject,school,college and professional characteristics,and subsequently determined the assessment methods after being modified by experts and survey respondents.After several trials,analyses and comparisons,a combination of direct and indirect assessment methods was finally chosen to investigate the current situation of geography teacher-training students' professional growth.Among them,the direct assessment method is a combination of the course grade point average method and the grade conversion evaluation method,while the indirect assessment method consisted of a combination of questionnaire and interview method to assess the current situation of the professional growth of geography teacher trainees in this school thus achieving a more comprehensive and objective assessment.Second,survey and assessment of the current professional growth of normal student of geography.After investigating and evaluating the current situation of professional growth of geography science(teacher training)students in Nanjing Normal University,we found that geography teacher training students in the university have the following advantages in the growth process: they have certain knowledge integration ability,better teaching ability,higher information technology level,stronger sense of comprehensive education,stronger independent learning ability,and higher research level.But at the same time,there are also the following problems: teacher ethics standards need to be improved,lack of educational sentiment,teaching concepts need to be changed,class guidance ability is poor,weak awareness of career planning,narrow international perspective,weak reflective consciousness,and insufficient cooperative communication skills.Through this survey,it is also found that there are three main dimensions that affect the professional growth of normal university students,namely: normal university students themselves,professional talent cultivation and internship cooperative schools.Third,suggestions for improving the professional growth path of geography teacher trainees.Based on the comprehensive evaluation criteria and the survey results,this paper puts forward some improvement suggestions on the professional growth path of current geography normal university students from three main dimensions.In terms of normal students themselves,starting from the four major directions of graduation requirements,this paper puts forward 11 suggestions,including strengthening teachers' ethics,deepening education feelings,improving subject quality,implementing teaching skills,paying attention to class management,strengthening reflection and evaluation,participating in academic research,formulating relevant plans,focusing on knowledge accumulation,improving self-efficacy and participating in social activities.In terms of professional personnel training,taking the course as the center,this paper puts forward three main suggestions: adjusting the course setting,updating the course teaching content in time,and arranging the course semester reasonably.In terms of the internship cooperation schools,it is mainly suggested that the cooperative schools participate in the development of the education practice manual for normal university students,and make certain adjustments to the specific internship time,content and specific assessment requirements according to the actual employment needs of middle schools.
