Study On The Features Of Birds In The Brocade Of Tang Dynasty

This article studies the bird pattern fragments in brocade of the Tang Dynast y collected in the Ethnic Costume Museum of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology by comparing objects,images and documents.Most of brocade objects are incomplete,according to the fragment pattern,comprehensively comparing the pair bird patterns taking silk,cave murals,gold and silver ware and rock carving as the carrier at the same time to reconstruct the patterns according to the symmetry of the patterns.The structure type and arrangement method of the pattern are sorted out.Analyzing the theme pattern,the auxiliary pattern and the unit skeleton,etc.The system of the bird pattern is studied.Through the study it is found that:(1)There are a variety of mother pattern on the birds,including geese,ducks,geese,peacocks,mandarin ducks.The bird’s shape is divided into bird holding ribbon in the mouse and standing birds,among which bird holding ribbon in the mouse holds a ribbon in the mouse,tied with a streamer behind the neck,the bird’s neck,abdomen,tail and other arts are commonly decorated by bead.There is a base under pair bird pattern feet,base shapes are different,there are palm base,bead base and so on.(2)There are two demonstrating methods of bird’s patterns: group bird around nest type and the independent bird type.Among them,there are many forms of group bird around nest type,such as flower nest ring,bead nest ring,shoot bending flower ring,heart-shaped ring,lotus ring or composite ring of several forms.Independent bird type refers to the birds are not in the group birds ring nest,but in a relatively independent form arranged with two continuous birds or four continuous birds.(3)Filling around the pair bird pattern has different shapes,there are ten flowers,flower trees,star anise pattern,the relatively small bird pattern.(4)From the patterns of pattern formation,the bird pattern is classified as "Sassanian Persian" in a broad sense.From the fabric structure,these brocade are twill Weft-patterned Brocade,we can see that at that time,brocade quickly became popular,very prosperous.Studying these patterns of bird brocade can sum up the general development and evolution of the Tang Dynasty,with high academic value.
