| Exploring the impact of the policy of grain for green on Ningxia’s agro-pastoral ecotone on farmers’ livelihood can effectively alleviate the contradiction between farmers’ livelihood and ecological problems in the area, and promote an important measure for regional ecological restoration.Paper taked Yanchi County,a typical agro-pastoral ecotone in Ningxia was the research area, and farmers was the research object in the area.Based on the sustainable livelihood framework,Paper used participatory farmer survey data to summarize the current situation of farmers’ livelihoods under the policy background of grain for green, using structural equation model, logistic regression analysis, redundancy analysis, variance partitionin analysis and quantile regression analysis methods to study the impact farmers’ livelihood strategies and livelihood Outcomes of the policy background of grain for green. The results show that:(1)Through the analysis of the policy of grain for green and farmers’ livelihood status and existing problems in the agro-pastoral ecotone in Ningxia,it is concluded that the current total value of livelihood capital of farmers is 0.33,the maximum measured value of natural capital is 0.10,and the human capital, physical capital, and financial capital measured values are 0.06,0.08,and 0.08,respectively,slightly higher than the measured value of social capital,0.02.The proportion of farmers’livelihood strategies is non-agricultural and part-time agriculture>pure agricultural>non-agricultural type in the study area. The household income of farmers is animal husbandry income>non-agricultural income>agricultural income, and the total income stability is 0.63.Therefore,farmers’ livelihood capital stock is low, their livelihood buffer capacity is weak, their livelihood is highly dependent on animal husbandry, and their income stability is high.Farmers generally choose a non-agricultural and part-time livelihood strategy is mainly based on work and supplemented by agricultural work.(2)Policy of grain for green has a significant impact on the four livelihood strategies.Whether it is the choice of livelihood strategy or the change of livelihood strategy, the policy of grain for green on plays a key role.Policy can promote farmers to choose pure agriculture and part-time agricultural livelihood strategies;inhibit farmers from choosing non-agricultural part-time and non-agricultural livelihood strategies, and inhibit the transformation of various livelihood strategies. In addition, educational level, agricultural machinery, livestock breeding scale and household net income all inhibited the change of livelihood strategy, while household labor had a positive effect on the change of livelihood strategy.(3)The main factors affecting the income of different types of farmer households are the policy of grain for green, social network and the area of irrigated land, among which the policy of grain for green has an increasing effect on the income of farmers. For purely agricultural and non-agricultural households, the independent explanatory powers of income stability(B)and grain for green on policies are 2.30%and 4.20%,respectively,which can improve income stability. However, the independent explanatory power of policies and the income stability of concurrent agricultural and non-agricultural households is-0.40%and-0.30%,respectively,indicating that policies have an impact on the income stability of concurrent agricultural and non-agricultural households. Therefore,it is possible to promote the transformation of farmers’ livelihood strategies by raising the subsidy policy for grain for green, increase income, improve their income stability, reduce income dependence, promote farmers’livelihoods to achieve the goal of sustainable development, and enhance farmers’ return of farmland to forest positivity. |
