Quality is vital for the survival and development of an enterprise.Under current tough market environment,quality has become the core competitiveness of enterprises and plays an important role in the sustainable development of enterprises.Company B mainly produces polyurethane systems,provides customized product as well as product solution according to customer needs.Polyurethane is known as the plastic industry with the fastest growth in demand in the world.With the rapid development of the polyurethane industry,customers pay high attention on product quality,but the product quality problems in Company B occurred from time to time.Therefore,it is meaningful to systematically diagnose and improve the product quality and its control process.This research combines the literature analysis method and several quality tools,adopts the structured logic of identifying problems-analyzing problems-solving problems,and focuses on product quality problems.First,this research summarizes related quality theories and research results which provides theorical foundation and guidance to the research.Second,after demonstrating the current situation and performance of quality management in Company B,the research analyzes the data of product quality problems,and identifies three main quality problems by using Plato principle,they are appearance issue,reaction issue and water content issue.Third,to further identify the root cause of the problems,the research combines the method of 5M1 E analysis and other tools like PFMEA,Plato,Fishbone and Brainstorms,summarizes and analyzes three key process control issues which include raw material quality control,production process control,product research and development control.Then,the improvement actions were worked out based on the above root cause,such as using Control Chart to monitor the quality performance of raw materials,launching color management and barcode technology as error-proofing measures in production,establishing quality team to manage the quality of product research and development process.Finally,this research verifies and predicts the output of these measures.The product quality problems were well controlled by adopting the above measures.Compared with the data before improvement,the customer quality complaints reduced by54%,the product pass rate increased by 0.4%,the quality process ability improved as well.The quality performance will be better after all measures were implemented.The results of this research not only improve the quality operation of Company B,but also provide theoretical and practical references for the improvement of product quality and process control of similar enterprises in the same industry.
