Niobium is a rare metal with a wide range of industrial uses. With the rapid development of my country’s economy, the demand for niobium in the industry has increased rapidly, and the output of niobium in my country is far from meeting the needs of the industry. Therefore,it is of great strategic significance and economic value to strengthen the research on niobium minerals.90%of China’s niobium ore is distributed in the Bayan Obo mine,so the recycling of niobium in the Bayan Obo ore is of great significance and urgent. The biggest feature of each section of the Bayan Obo deposit is that the niobium minerals are embedded in fine particle size, and niobium is widely dispersed in silicate minerals, iron minerals and quartz. The Bayan Obo deposit is difficult to select niobium. This paper selects niobite and quartz in the niobium minerals of Bayan Obo Mine as the research objects, aiming at the study of effective inhibitors in the flotation separation of niobium minerals and quartz,it provide a certain research basis for the utilization of niobium mineral resources in Bayan Obo Mine.In this thesis, the single mineral flotation of niobite and quartz and the flotation effects of citric acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA),sodium hexametaphosphate, and oxalic acid on the flotation of niobite and quartz were investigated.Octyl hydroxamic acid(OHA)as collector in niobite and quartz flotation, both niobite and activated quartz showed strong collecting ability, and could not achieve effective separation of the two minerals. When the concentration of collector OHA is greater than 0.05mmol/L,the recovery rate of niobite is basically unchanged, while the recovery rate of quartz will continue to increase. Therefore, the dosage of OHA is 0.05mmol/L as the fixed collector dosage.Citric acid and EDTA have obvious inhibitory ability on quartz, but weaker inhibition on niobite;although sodium hexametaphosphate has strong inhibitory ability on quartz,it also has strong inhibitory ability on niobite, which inhibits niobite. The ability is stronger than that of citric acid and EDTA;the inhibition ability of oxalic acid to niobite and quartz is weaker. When the dosage of inhibitor is fixed, changing the p H value of the pulp will affect the flotation recovery rates of niobite and quartz, and the recovery rates of niobite and quartz are basically the same as those affected by p H.Using citric acid,EDTA and sodium hexametaphosphate as inhibitors, the flotation separation experiment of artificial mixed ore of niobite and quartz was carried out.The test results show that citric acid and EDTA can effectively realize the flotation separation of niobite and quartz. When the amount of citric acid is 0.1mmol/L and the p H is 9,the recovery rate of Nb2O5in niobite is 76.03%,and the niobium is 76.03%.The grade of Nb2O5in the iron ore is58.38%.When the amount of EDTA was 0.2 mmol/L and the p H was 9,the recovery rate of Nb2O5in niobite was 72.54%,and the grade of Nb2O5in niobite was 56.84%.However,sodium hexametaphosphate has no good selectivity for artificial mixed ores, and cannot effectively separate niobite and quartz. The separation ability of the three inhibitors is:citric acid>EDTA>sodium hexametaphosphate. The inhibition mechanism of citric acid and EDTA on quartz was explored by contact angle test,Zeta potential,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and other test methods. The results showed that when citric acid was used as an inhibitor, the presence of citrate ions reduces the adsorption amount of OHA on the quartz surface, and its polar groups have chemical adsorption with metal ions on the quartz surface, thereby causing the loss of active sites of the collector, the adsorption amount is reduced, resulting in a good inhibitory effect on quartz. When EDTA is used as an inhibitor, its EDTA has a chemical adsorption effect on the metal activated ions on the quartz surface, which reduces the adsorption of the collector on the mineral surface, thereby producing an effective inhibitory effect on the quartz...
