| From the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties,women dressed themselves with trousseaus,which function is single and size is small,it needed to be attached to tables.During the period of the Republic of China,the collision of Chinese and Western culture objectively promoted the transformation and development of Chinese science and technology industry and ideology.The design concept and production process of furniture in the Republic of China era had a great change,and merged into the shape and structure of the intercommunication gradually between China and the West.At the same time,women’s thoughts and life showed a diversified trend,and their social status was improved rapidly.The integration of the two made dressing tables come into being as the special furniture for women in the period of the Republic of China.However,the current research on the shape and structure of dressing tables in the Republic of China is still mainly generalized,or the study only takes dressing tables as a part of the interpretation,lacking specific analysis and relevant theoretical guidance.Therefore,the main research purpose of this topic is to analyze the design elements and characteristics of modeling and decoration from dressing tables in the Republic of China,as well as the female subject consciousness contained in it,in order to provide reference value for improving the research system of the shape and construction of Chinese modern furniture.To analyze the origin and development of dressing tables’ shape during the Republic of China,dig out the design elements of trousseaus,and combine them with the design style of western classical furniture and the new concepts of women in the Republic of China with the method of literature research,field investigation and mapping of the shape,structure and data of dressing tables in the Republic of China,and analysis of classic illustrations and drawing software such as Photoshop and Sketchbook.According to collected data of the physical image and size of the dressing tables in the Republic of China period,summarize,classify and analyze shape and structure of the overall and each component of the dressing tables.Analyze the distribution characteristics of decorative patterns in dressing tables during the Republic of China,and study the subject matter,pattern and expression form of common patterns from the perspective of the promotion of female subject consciousness,to find out the design characteristics of decorative patterns in dressing tables during the Republic of China.The research results show that the shape and structure characteristics,decoration theme and material principles of trousseaus in the Ming and Qing dynasties are the Chinese inheritance elements of the dresser in the Republic of China,the curvy shape,floral pattern and mechanical processing are the main western fusion styles of the dresser in the Republic of China,the awakening of female subject consciousness is the necessary factors for the rapid development and prosperity of the dresser in the Republic of China.The results show that according to the design of different components,the dressing tables are divided into single mirror type and three mirror type,drawer type,door cabinet and half drawer half door cabinet,straight leg type,three bent leg type,shaped leg type and enclosure type,as well as sitting and standing,and there are lots of design characteristics,such as flexible and convenient opening and closing structure,rich combination structure,multi-use and fixed structure of Chinese and Western integration.Dressing tables are diverse and symmetrical in shape,laying emphasis on the appropriate empty space and flexible use of curves,and the aesthetic psychology and functional needs of women in the Republic of China.complex and regular,solemn and lively are the characteristics of shape design in dressing tables.The decorative patterns of dressing tables in the Republic of China were mainly distributed in the mirror frame,cabinet body and legs and feet,and showed certain distribution rules according to the different shapes and structures,which are the integration of traditional Chinese ornament patterns optimization and western decorative patterns,reflecting the design features of Chinese and Western fusion,symbiosis of vanity and reality,unity of exterior and interior and coordination of old and new,and showing the romantic and diversified aesthetic pursuit and independent spiritual character of women in the Republic of China.The study on the modeling and decorative characteristics of dressing tables in the Republic of China is helpful to improve the theoretical system of the study of modern Chinese furniture modeling,and shows great significance for the aesthetic appreciation and value appraisal of dressing tables in the Republic of China,as well as the inheritance and development of modern Chinese art and culture.From the perspective of humanistic concept and design characteristics,the study of the shape,process and aesthetic thoughts of dressing tables is conducive to the assessment of the artistic level and historical status of furniture design in the Republic of China,and provides a basis for the collection,exhibition and protection of cultural relics in the future.At the same time,the analysis of the female aesthetic and value concept of the dressing tables in the Republic of China and other female subject consciousness can provide a reference for the future to study the modern female thought,in order to explore a modern female furniture design road. |
