| Among the many studies on ramie fiber-reinforced polymer materials,the research related to transparent ramie fiber composites has not been covered yet,and the most extensive research on bio-based transparent materials has been conducted on transparent wood.Transparent wood is prepared by impregnating transparent resin with a lignocellulose skeleton through delignification,which has high transmittance and haze,and excellent mechanical properties.Ramie fibers,which are also woody in structure,also have the potential to be prepared as transparent materials.In this study,the ramie fiber was modified by the preparation process of transparent wood in order to broaden the application of ramie fiber materials in home decoration.The feasibility of the preparation of ramie fiber/epoxy resin composites was investigated through four aspects:NaClO2 pretreatment,preparation process optimization,composite dyeing,and composite design and application,and the optical,mechanical,wettability,and durability of the composites were tested and analyzed.It also provides a new option for home decoration materials.The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1)Mechanical,optical,FTIR,SEM and other performance tests and characterization analyses were performed on the ramie fibers and their prepared composites before and after NaClO2 pretreatment.The results showed that the NaClO2 treatment removed the color-generating group lignin from the ramie fibers and improved the optical properties of the composites,with a 15%increase in transmittance and a 3%increase in haze.The surface modification resulted in the removal of pectin,lignin and other non-cellulosic materials from the surface of ramie fibers and the increase of surface roughness,which increased the contact area with the resin,resulting in better interfacial bonding and improved mechanical properties of the composites,with a 32%increase in tensile strength and a 36%increase in tensile modulus.(2)The effects of the number of pressed layers,hot pressing temperature and glue application amount on the mechanical and optical properties of the composite materials were investigated by single-factor tests,and the optimal process parameters were determined.The experimental results showed that when the hot pressing temperature was 125℃ and the glue application amount was 580 g/m2,the properties of the composite material reached the optimum,and the number of pressed layers could be adjusted according to the design requirements of different products to achieve suitable optical effects.(3)The results of the tests on the mechanical properties,optical properties,surface wetting properties,heat and light resistance of the ramie fiber/epoxy resin composites indicate that the ramie fiber/epoxy resin composites can meet the requirements as home decoration materials.(4)By dyeing ramie fiber/epoxy resin composites,the aesthetic properties of the composites and the creatability of the composite applications can be improved.A comparison between ramie dyeing and resin dyeing showed that the composite material obtained by resin dyeing has the best mechanical properties and color effect,and the process is simple and less expensive.The pH value of the dyeing solution was analyzed,and it was found that the pH value had no significant effect on the storage stability of the dye solution and the mechanical properties of the composite material,and the best color reproduction was obtained at pH 8-10.To improve the light resistance of the composite material,three ultraviolet stabilizers were selected and analyzed,and the best effect was obtained with UV-292,a phenylformamidine type ultraviolet absorber.(5)Using ramie fiber/epoxy resin composite material as the base material,we conduct research on the design and application of related household products based on its advantages and characteristics.Combining the composite material with traditional culture gives the material a stronger national character.The design attributes of composite home products are discussed,and the attributes of material safety and environmental protection,color and texture,and classification and combination are analyzed and summarized.Based on this,a home product design system based on ramie fiber/epoxy resin composite material is constructed to provide practical experience and methods to promote the application of biomass-based transparent materials in the home field. |
