Wuling Mountain Area is a key ecological function area.Scientific evaluation of its ecological environment quality is of great significance for ecological protection and sustainable development of this area.Based on the Google Earth Engine platform,multi-source remote sensing images were used to construct a comprehensive remote sensing ecological index(CEEI)integrating vegetation coverage(FVC),vegetation health index(VHI),humidity(WET),dryness(NDBSI),and heat(LST)to evaluate the ecological environment quality in the Wuling Mountain Area.The spatial and temporal variation characteristics and driving forces of eco-environmental quality in this region from 2001 to 2021 were analyzed using Sen trend analysis,spatial autocorrelation,and geodetector.Results as follows:(1)CEEI could represent the ecological environment quality of Wuling Mountain Area well,and FVC,VHI and WET had positive effects on it,while LST and NDBSI had negative effects.(2)The annual mean value of CEEI in Wuling Mountain Area is 0.586,showing a fluctuating upward trend,indicating that the ecological and environmental quality of Wuling Mountain Area is good on the whole.Its spatial distribution showed a pattern of "high in the north,low in the middle west and southeast".Most ecological conditions improved,and the spatial variation trend increased but was not statistically significant.The future change trend for CEEI is mainly decreasing.(3)The spatial distribution pattern has certain agglomeration characteristics,with high-high aggregation in the north and central and eastern parts,and low-low aggregation in the central and eastern parts.(4)In terms of meteorological factors,the influence range of temperature was slightly larger on the whole,and the correlation between temperature and CEEI was mainly positive(67.23%).The ecological environment quality increased first and then decreased with the increase in elevation and slope.Forested land is the main land type in Wuling Mountain Area.The conversion of forested land,cultivated land and grassland is the main land transformation that causes CEEI changes,and the continuous expansion of construction land is an important factor in the decrease of CEEI.(5)The order of influence degree of each factor on spatial differentiation of ecological environment quality was average annual temperature > slope > elevation> land use > annual precipitation,and temperature was the first dominant factor.In terms of interaction,the interaction of two factors is greater than that of a single factor,and the contribution of hydrothermal coupling is the largest.The overall ecological environment quality of Wuling Mountain Area is good,but the ecological degradation in some areas cannot be ignored.The next ecological construction work should consolidate and strictly implement the policy of returning farmland to forest(grass),actively promote the control of rocky desertification in key areas,and promote the construction of green belt along the traffic,tourist attractions,around the town and on both sides of rivers.
