| Peatlands are recognized as a huge pool of carbon all over the world, and agriculture is a significant source of carbon emissions. In recent years, agricultural carbon emission reduction has become a research hotspot.Slowing or reducing the growth of atmospheric carbon dioxide has become the focus of international attention.Agricultural emissions, one of the most important sources of carbon in the atmosphere, are also a cause for concern. How to increase agricultural carbon capture without hindering agricultural development has become a top priority. In order to clarify the carbon sequestration ability of Sphagnum planted in farmland soil and analyze the main factors affecting its carbon sequestration ability, this paper took Sphagnum planted in Shuitai Village,Longli County,Guizhou Province as the research object, adopted the static box method, set up three kinds of Sphagnum CO2 flux observation boxes at different growth stages, and analyzed the characteristics of Sphagnum respiration indices under different climate conditions.Combined with correlation analysis, linear fitting and interpolation analysis, the effect of Sphagnum planting on atmosphere and soil fixation was discussed, and the effect of Sphagnum planting on the change of soil organic carbon content and carbon sequestration amount of Sphagnum in farmland was obtained. The change rules were summarized, which provided a theoretical basis for the establishment of local high-quality Sphagnum planting model. The study was conducted in the mountains of southwest China.Using the sample site storage method to calculate paddy carbon sink, the feasibility of Sphagnum planting in the study area and similar areas was discussed from various aspects in combination with the local actual situation, and the attempt was made to study whether the artificial planting of Sphagnum in paddy field could reduce agricultural carbon emissions and achieve the purpose of changing source to sink.Although Sphagnum generally grows in high latitudes and is considered to be the dominant carbon-fixing plant in northern peat bogs, this study was carried out in paddy fields of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, which belong to subtropical alpine mountains with similar climatic conditions, which is suitable for Sphagnum growth. The feasibility of Sphagnum planting in the study area and similar areas was discussed by using the sample site storage method to calculate paddy field carbon sink. The static box method was used to monitor CO2 flux data of Sphagnum planted in farmland in situ to estimate the fixed amount of atmospheric CO2 during the growth of Sphagnum, and combined with regional meteorological data to analyze the influencing factors of CO2 flux. The results show that:(1)Combined with correlation analysis and linear regression model, temperature was the dominant factor affecting CO2 flux of Sphagnum, and atmospheric pressure had a significant negative effect on CO2 flux.(2)Sphagnum has prominent carbon sequestration ability during its growth. In the early sowing period of Sphagnum in winter, the temperature was low and the CO2 flux was basically in equilibrium.Summer temperature is suitable, for the rapid growth period, carbon storage rapidly increased. After the same growth time, the organic carbon content of Sphagnum plants can reach 8-10 times that of traditional crops.(3)Long-term observation of the decomposition of Sphagnum in an indoor static box shows that Sphagnum will not decompose for a long time after harvest, and can store the absorbed CO2 in the plant body for a long time, avoiding the secondary release of CO2 caused by harvest.(4)The total organic carbon of 0-10 cm soil in the study area was 15,739.58 t,about 35.18 t/hm2,calculated by interpolation analysis and other methods. The organic carbon content of 0-10 cm soil in the paddy field was about 12.34 t/hm2,and the soil organic carbon content in the peat growing area was more than three times that in the rice growing area.(5)The economic benefits of Sphagnum cultivation are outstanding.Sphagnum cultivation has low requirements on soil nutrients, hardly needs manual management, and the planting cost is much lower than that of rice cultivation. The output value of Sphagnum cultivation in the study area can reach 9-10 times that of rice.In this study area,Sphagnum cultivation can take into account both economic and ecological benefits,so it is an ideal agricultural model. It is found that Sphagnum cultivation can effectively absorb and store CO2 in the atmosphere into plants and keep stable for a long time, which is a new crop in line with The Times. This experiment confirmed the feasibility of planting Sphagnum in paddy fields under high mountain climate, highlighted the ecological significance of sphagnum moss planting, and provided a theoretical basis for spreading Sphagnum planting in suitable areas. |
