Research On Image Narration In Contemporary Narrative Jewelry

Jewelry,as the oldest decorative object of human body,is the carrier to convey information.Since ancient times,various functions of jewelry have implied narrative.With the continuous update of social culture,functions of jewelry have gradually diversified,and people’s demand for jewelry has broken through the main functions of traditional jewelry to express dignity and decoration.The boom of contemporary jewelry has given rise to the type development of contemporary narrative jewelry.Creators have gradually endowed jewelry with story telling and inner expression,and contemporary narrative jewelry has become the carrier of meaning and emotion.As a schema or spiritual totem,jewelry concentrates all aspects of human culture.It is an early form of jewelry using images to appeal to consciousness activities.With the early development process of human society,the image meaning in jewelry has also been infused with multiple layers of cultural accumulation during the continuous development.In today’s world dominated by visual culture,the expression of contemporary narrative jewelry integrates the logical expression of "image" and "cognition",which complement each other and complete the narrative.Memory and imagination,as two important aspects of human cognition,are inseparable from narration in narrative jewelry.They interact with each other and jointly construct the subject’s cognition and understanding of himself and the world.Therefore,this paper focuses on the image narrative research of contemporary narrative jewelry,which is conducive to the systematic construction of the image narrative of contemporary narrative jewelry and the exploration of the process of in-depth cognition and communication with images.It is also the induction and combing that contemporary narrative jewelry needs to make today when images are so developed.Based on the perspective of image narrative,this paper mainly explores how to use image narrative means and image or image sequence to construct narrative process in the narrative process of contemporary narrative jewelry,so as to reconstruct the memory and extended imagination of the narrative subject,and how the memory and imagination of the subject are represented in the image narrative.Firstly,this paper traces the cultural origin of contemporary narrative jewelry and its image narrative origin.Then it analyzes the types of narrative images in contemporary narrative jewelry and explores the functions of images.Next,I will focus on how to reconstruct memory with image narrative and how to express imagination with image narrative extension,and explore the narrative interaction formed in image narrative reconstruction and extension so as to trigger a deeper cultural exchange among all subjects(creators,viewers and wearers).In order to clarify how image narrative is constructed in contemporary narrative jewelry.This paper uses narratology,iconology,cultural memory,imagination and other theories,supplemented by type analysis and image analysis,to carry out image narrative research in contemporary narrative jewelry,to find out how to use image narrative to construct contemporary narrative jewelry culture and extend to the whole contemporary jewelry culture system.In addition,it also provides a theoretical paradigm for other types of artistic jewelry.
