Among the flourishing and beautiful silk plant patterns, tree patterns have a long history of development and profound cultural connotations. For a long time,as a common cultural phenomenon in the world, tree patterns have widely existed in the social consciousness and life of various ethnic groups, carrying the long prayer for the prosperity of life and the eternal life that connects the sky and the earth.During the Han and Tang dynasties, there were frequent cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign textile industries.A large number of silk fabric relics were unearthed in regions and countries along the Silk Road, and their patterns also showed the exchange and development of the two artistic origins.Under the thousands of years of civilization, the tree patterns in the Han and Tang fabrics have undergone changes in modeling themes and forms, ranging from a regular one-way arrangement to a balanced symmetry within the division, bearing significant characteristics of the economic and social cultural development of the era, reflecting the transformation of ancient Chinese decorative art from a symbolic expression of life character under primitive worship to a realistic aesthetic concept of harmony between heaven and man, praying for blessings and receiving blessings. This topic takes the life tree patterns in Han and Tang fabrics as the research object, and takes the shape, theme, composition form, and color of the tree patterns as the starting point. It analyzes in detail the artistic representations of the life tree patterns in textiles unearthed or handed down along the Silk Road from the third year of Jianyuan in the Western Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty in different periods.Based on archaeological reports, physical image data, existing literature, and historical classics, the evolution of tree patterns is studied from the perspectives of iconography, art archaeology, and social anthropology. The evolution process of tree patterns and the migration of dominant concepts behind them are sorted out from the outside to the inside and from the outside to the inland.First of all,by tracing the origins of the life tree pattern from the East to the West, analyzing its deductive context through the variation of the classical motif of the pattern, sorting out the main types of the pattern, thus clarifying the development basis of the life tree pattern in the Han and Tang dynasties.Secondly, from archaeological reports, historical materials, books, and museum collections,123 pieces of woven and embroidered goods with the pattern of the Tree of Life were collected and collated.Themes were classified and analyzed based on different categories of the pattern, and then factors such as social background, economic development, and etiquette systems in different historical periods were combined to interpret the influencing factors and cultural connotations of the pattern of the Tree of Life during that period. The life tree pattern brocade of the Han and Tang dynasties is a product of deep cultural exchanges between China and the West, which contains profound and unique spiritual connotations and has high artistic research value and application potential. At the time of the rise of the discourse power of Oriental fashion, understanding and applying traditional decorative elements and integrating them with modern decorative design is the only way to develop ethnic characteristic products with independent intellectual property rights, achieve innovative transformation, and inherit culture.Thirdly, through the analysis of the motifs, composition forms, and cultural connotations of the Han and Tang Silk Weaving Life Tree, the research extracts classic pattern factors, builds a pattern material library, analyzes its morphological semantics, and further utilizes modern pattern design principles such as element reorganization, deconstruction, and shape grammar to perform deduction and transformation, achieving the integration of the Han and Tang Silk Weaving Life Tree pattern and soft clothing fabric products,in order to enhance the fashion depth and effectiveness of fabric products,Provide corresponding pattern materials and style choices for modern innovative design.
