The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the important proposition of Chinese-style modernization. As an important part of Chinese-style modernization, the transformation of agricultural modernization is the key indicator to measure the overall effectiveness of modernization. At the same time,as the core guarantee of national food security, the stable development of agriculture and its modernization transformation have always been an important grasp for the Party and the state to promote the transformation of economic and social development.Document No.1of the Central Committee has made important expositions on agricultural development on many occasions, with special emphasis on stimulating endogenous power by strengthening the support of science and technology and equipment and promoting the green and high-quality transformation and development of agriculture.Since the Eighteenth National Congress, promoting high-quality economic development with new development concepts has become an important manifestation of China’s economic transformation. In the field of agriculture, green development not only provides direction for the transformation of traditional agriculture, but also puts forward specific requirements for the high-quality development of agriculture. Therefore, improving the green total factor productivity of agriculture has become an objective index to measure the green development of agriculture. The green development of agriculture not only requires agricultural practitioners to change their development concepts, but also needs the common support of corresponding technology, market, mode, and other factors. As a representative of emerging scientific and technological forces, digital technology has been widely used in economic and social development with its advantages of high permeability and increasing marginal utility. The role of digital economy, with digital technology as its core driving force,in promoting the development of secondary and tertiary industries has been widely explained by academia. However, there are still some deficiencies in the academic research on the specific impact of digital economy on agricultural development. As an important way and effect related to the transformation of agricultural modernization in China, the role and effect of digital economy on agricultural green production has attracted the attention of the practitioners. Therefore, the academia needs to further explore the impact mechanism and conditions of digital economy on agricultural green development and put forward practical enlightenment and policy recommendations based on China’s experience for agricultural green development. This article first explores the impact of digital economy on agricultural green total factor productivity through theoretical and empirical analysis, and clarifies its internal mechanism; At the same time, exploring the transmission mechanism of digital economy on agricultural green total factor productivity from the perspective of non-agricultural employment, seeking new possible driving forces for empowering agricultural green production with digital economy,is expected to enrich the research content related to agricultural green total factor productivity.Secondly, existing research mainly focuses on macro level research at the provincial level. This article focuses on 17 prefecture level cities in Henan Province, which are the main grain producing areas, and focuses on the field of agricultural production, with more detailed research. The research results can provide theoretical and empirical support for the search for new driving forces for agricultural economic growth in Henan Province during the transitional period.Once again, based on the new growth theory, induced technological innovation theory, transaction cost theory, and sustainable development theory, this article constructs the role path of the digital economy on agricultural green total factor productivity.Based on relevant data from17 prefecture level cities in Henan Province from 2011 to 2020,empirical analysis is conducted to explore the impact of the digital economy on agricultural green total factor productivity. The research content of this article mainly consists of four parts:(1)Firstly,the super efficiency SBM model based on non-expected output is used to calculate the efficiency value of agricultural green total factor productivity in Henan Province, and then the ML index is used to observe the changes in agricultural green total factor productivity and analyze the sources of agricultural green total factor productivity growth.(2)Select relevant indicators and use the entropy method to calculate the comprehensive development level of the digital economy and analyze the changes in the comprehensive development level of the digital economy from a temporal and spatial perspective.(3)Using a dual fixed effects model for benchmark regression, analyze the impact of digital economy on agricultural green total factor productivity.(4)Test the mesmeric effect of non-agricultural employment. The conclusion of this article is as follows: Firstly, the efficiency value of agricultural green total factor productivity in Henan Province shows a fluctuating state in time, with a relatively uniform distribution in space. The main contribution of growth comes from technological progress, and there is also a certain phenomenon of technological efficiency regression.Technological efficiency regression mainly comes from the regression of pure technological efficiency.Secondly, the comprehensive development level of digital economy in 17 prefecture level cities in Henan Province is increasing year by year. From the spatial trend, there is an imbalance in the development of digital economy among regions.Thirdly, the digital economy has a positive impact on the green total factor productivity of agriculture.Fourth, the mesmeric effect shows that non-agricultural employment plays a positive intermediary role in the process of digital economy affecting green total factor productivity, that is,there is a transmission path of digital economy non-agricultural employment agricultural green total factor productivity.Based on this, this article proposes relevant suggestions: to improve the infrastructure for the development of the digital economy, optimize the allocation of resources between regions, pay attention to environmental issues in agricultural production, promote agricultural technology progress, and reasonably promote the transfer of rural labor.
