Objectives1.To systematically tease out relevant accounts related to walking regimen inthe ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine, and summarize the core poi-nts of the different categorical entries involved in walking regimen and provide a theoretical basis for the prescription of clinical walking regimen exercise.2.To understand the knowledge level and behavioral status of the general population about the walking regimen, and explore the influencing factors for walking regimen behaviors and provide a reference basis for the further relevant health behavior education and the formulation of standard walking regimen plan.MethodsPart Ⅰ:The research on ancient walking regimen Methods.A systematic review was conducted to examine the literature, and the research methods and ideas of literature, elucidation, grammar, and induction were applied.Part Ⅰ:to deeply explore the specific meaning of the word " walk" through research methods including phonology, elucidation, and so on,and to identify and distinguish synonymous words and words,so as to lay a foundation for subsequent literature search;Part Ⅱ:using a systematic review literature search method, the search terms were identified based on the results of part Ⅰ,and the contents related to walking regimen in the fifth edition of Chinese medical code were retrieved and extracted, and the relevant content of the discussion was preliminarily classified;Part Ⅲ:the categorized entries were further condensed, and fill in the contents of the entries. The core points of walking regimen under different categorized entries were extracted and summarized.Part Ⅱ:Analysis of factors influencing the walking regimen behavior. This study self-administered a questionnaire on the current status of walking health preserving behaviors among the general population, which was distributed synchronously online and offline by using convenience sampling principles between November 1,2021 and November 21,2021.The online part was anonymously distributed and selfadministered questionnaires were collected in the form of electronic questionnaires using a web platform; The offline portion was anonymized face-to-face questionnaire survey conducted by investigators at Guang’anmen Hospital,Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences,Beijing Olympic Forest Park,Beijing Chao Yang Park, and Beijing Nanguan Park, where the questionnaires were filled out, collected on-site,and the online and offline questionnaire citations remained the same as the main text content.Data for the collected questionnaires were categorically collated, and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the sociodemographic data, the current status of walking health promotion and the level of understanding of walking health promotion in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)using SPSS 24.0;The relationships between the sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents and walking regimen behaviors adopted by χ2-test,binary logistic regression and other statistical methods were analyzed, and the key influencing factors were extracted from them.ResultsPart Ⅰ:The research on ancient walking regimen methods.1.The narrow concept of walking regimen is a health regimen guided by the theory of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),combined with certain principles of health preservation, through a slow-speed walking way,and pay attention to nourish foot, balance the diet,so as to achieve the purpose of promoting life longevity and quality.Whereas,in a broad sense,as long as the basic way of exercise is walking, the aim is to build up body,to maintain life and enhance physical fitness, all types of intensity and form of walking exercise can be assigned to the category of walking regimen.2.Normal progress of walking regimen in Zang Fu organs is mainly closely related to liver and kidney, spleen and stomach, and heart, and in meridians is mainly closely related to three yin and three yang of foot,as well as seesaw veins and twelve meridians and tendons.3.Walking regimen mainly benefits the joint, promotes blood circulation to remove blood stasis, help digestion, nourish the foot and toe.Walking regimen does not need to be restrained due to environments and time constraints,it should be done slowly for all types of people, and walking should be performed especially after the meal, but night is relatively not an appropriate time for walking regimen.Walking intensity should adhere to the principles of walking without gallop and walking without long distance, just walk according to walkers’ abilities. And be careful to adjust breathing during walking, nose and mouth spitting, while making little speech and avoiding using the mind.4.Representative special health promotion gait are as follows, kick in gait, same hand and foot gait, feline stepping gait, stone lifting gait and so on.When walking after eating,we can cooperate with some additional supporting actions, such as putting the hand on the flank, abdomen, and renal Tang(Shenshu acupoint),to replenish Kidney Yang and warm spleen soil, which will benefit the food digestion.5.Representative health-care medicines related to walking regimen are barley, pine, chestnut, mulberry, etc.,and the formula has Shengjun pill, jianstep pill, etc.Relevant representative health acupoints are Yong Quan,Kun Lun,Fei Yang,He Yang,Tai Chong,Zhong Feng,Zu Sanli,Feng Shi,Yin Shi,etc.Part Ⅱ:Analysis of factors influencing the walking regimen behavior.1.A total of 1719 questionnaires were completed in this study, and after screening, data from a total of 1375 questionnaires were included in the final study analysis, the effective recovery rate is 79.99%.2.Among the 1375 respondents, the proportion of those who had walking regimen habit was 65.60%(902/1375),the proportion of those who considered " walking exercise belongs to the traditional Chinese medicine regimen " was 80.00%(1100/1375),and the proportion of those who knew "the walking regimen knowledge that was suitable for them including their walking pace, walking frequency, and average number of steps " was 28.29%(389/1375).The proportion of people who know drugs, acupoints, and gait which are beneficial for the walking was 16.80%(231/1375),the proportion of people who had chances to attend health preaching about walking exercise or walking health care knowledge organized by institutions or related departments in the past year was 25.09%(345/1375),The proportion of the population willing to participate or download or visit " course teaching about walking health regimen or related app, website " was 64.00%(880/1375).3.Among those with walking regimen, the aim of walking regimen was dominated by ’relaxed mood’ in 56.21%(507/902);The duration of adherence to walking regimen was dominated by "" within one year(inclusive)"" in 56.32%(508/902);The proportion of the population who had a fixed time period for a walking regimen was 61.31%(553/902);The proportion of people who performed walking regimen on average 1-3 days per week was 51.11%(461/902);The proportion of the population who would continue for an average of 10-30 min per walking regimen was 57.10%(515/902);The proportion of people who achieved an average of 6001-10000 steps per day of walking regimen was 30.04%(271/902);The time period for walking regimen was dominated by"" late evening(18-19:00 hours)"" in 46.01%(415/902);Site selection for walking regimen was dominated by ’Street’,52.77%(476/902);The percentage of people who considered their walking position as correct was 46.78%(422/902);The proportion of the population who would not cooperate with special actions or gestures in a walking regimen was 41.46%(374/902);The proportion of people who would not massage acupoints or a certain part of their body before and after walking regimen was 58.54%(528/902);The proportion of the population who occasionally adjusted their breathing pattern at the time of walking regimen was 36.70%(331/902);The proportion of those who occasionally had a partner accompanied at the time of walking regimen was 33.92%(306/902);The proportion of the population for whom walking regimen was not influenced by weather or season was 50.67%(457/902);The proportion of the population who occasionally thought about something simultaneously during the walking regimen was 35.14%(317/902);48.78%(440/902)for those who occasionally used mobile phones frequently during the walking regimen; The proportion of people who occasionally listened to music during the walking regimen was 31.71%(286/902);The proportion of the population whose physical status improved after adherence to the walking regimen was 67.29%(607/902);The proportion of the population with improved psychological status following adherence to a walking regimen was 78.82%(711/902).A cross-over analysis combining demographic data found that this part of the population was dominated by staff(385/902)with a mean monthly income of 4001-10000 yuan(390/902)and a mean monthly income of 4001-10000 yuan(219/390),and the majority of the population with walking pattern for this part of walking regimen for daily walking regimen was focused on 3001-6000 steps(101/390)and 6001-10000 steps(115/390)with a mean monthly income of 10-30 minutes(219/390),No chronic diseases were identified(331/390).4.Univariate analysis showed that gender, age, educational level, occupation, marital status, primary residence in the most recent year, primary residence in the most recent year Perceived benefits for walking health maintenance(whether or not walking exercise is considered to be a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health regimen, whether or not it is better suited to your walking pace, frequency of walking, number of daily steps, etc.walking health regimen knowledge such as walking pace promoting foods and drugs, acupoints, gait, precautions, etc.whether or not there has been a health campaign around the body or relevant departments in the past year regarding walking exercise or walking health promotion knowledge and whether or not there is a willingness to participate proactively Plus walking health care related course teaching or downloading visit related app with the website)The differences in walking healthy behavior habits between the subjects who reported walking regimen status(whether they would cooperate with special movements or gestures while walking, whether they would massage acupoints or some part of their body before and after walking, whether they would deliberately adjust their breathing pattern while walking, whether they would think about something simultaneously during walking, whether they would use mobile phones frequently during walking, and whether they would listen to music during walking)were statistically significant(P<0.05).5.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that gender, age, whether walking exercise was considered to be a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health regimen, whether they knew to be better suited for their own walking pace, walking frequency and average number of steps per day, whether they would cooperate with special movements or positions while walking, whether they would deliberately adjust their breathing pattern and whether they would use mobile phones frequently during walking Eight variables, such as whether they would listen to music during walking, were entered into the model.Among them,women(OR=0.645,95%CI=0.490-0.850)had a reduced probability of developing walking health promoting behaviors compared to men.Compared with those aged 29 years and younger, those aged 30-60 years(OR=0.692,95%CI=0.518-0.925)had a reduced probability of developing walking health practices.Compared with the belief that walking exercise was a form of traditional Chinese medicine regimen population, the probability of practicing walking exercise was reduced in the belief that walking exercise was not a form of traditional Chinese medicine regimen population(OR=0.677,95%CI=0.567-0.809).Compared with people who knew more appropriate walking health promotion knowledge such as walking pace, walking frequency and average number of steps per day, people who did not know more suitable walking health promotion knowledge such as walking pace, walking frequency and average number of steps per day(OR=0.596,95%CI=0.4110.865)had a reduced probability of developing walking health promotion habits.Compared with people who do not cooperate with special movements or gestures when walking, people who walk with special movements or gestures every time(OR=3.047,95%CI=1.616-5.744),people who often cooperate with special movements or gestures(OR=1.919,95%CI=1.113-3.309),and people who occasionally cooperate with special movements or gestures(OR=1.439,95%CI=1.077-1.923)have an increased probability of developing a walking regimen.Compared with those who did not deliberately adjust their breathing pattern while walking, those who did regularly adjust their breathing pattern deliberately while walking had an increased probability of developing a walking regimen(OR=1.626,95%CI=1.022-2.587)and those who did occasionally adjust their breathing pattern deliberately(OR=1.480,95%CI=1.091-2.009).Compared with those who did not use mobile phones frequently during walking, those who used mobile phones frequently each time during walking(OR=0.435,95%CI=0.245-0.772)and those who used them frequently(OR=0.3 73,95%CI=0.240-0.579)had a reduced probability of developing walking health habits.Compared with those who did not listen to music during walking, the probability of developing a walking regimen increased among those who listened to music every time during walking(OR=1.971,95%CI=1.232-3.155),those who regularly listened to music(OR=1.524,95%CI=1.027-2.263).Conclusions1.Walking regimen,as one of the traditional health regimen methods, has a rich theoretical connotation and practical value. In this study, based on the ancient Chinese medicine literature,we investigated the theory and methods of walking for health preservation in terms of the concept, effects, principles, special gait preservation, and relevant health-care prescription and acupoints.Walking regimen has been known for thousands of years in our country, and many of the contemporary famous medical professionals are also advocates for walking regimen, such as the national medical master Zhu liangchun who confirmedly believes that " hundred kings of exercise is not better than walking " and " walking is the king of exercise ",and the national medical master Ban xiuwen adheres to daily morning walks and walks to work place,we can see that walking is one of the important exercise regimens for these specialists. While every argument for exercise regimen in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)at the moment, scholars mostly restrict their eyes to traditional regimens such as Tai Chi,Baduanjin, and sixword tips, walking regimen has been neglected severely. The paucity of relevant studies has also made walking regimen itself fail to form a standard system. However, the walking population has been gradually expanding in recent years with public health awareness increasing, and many of them began to face the problem of wrong walking regimen methods. So mining ancient walking health theories and approaches is of great significance. From the present study,it can be found that some of the principles advocated for traditional walking exercise differ somewhat from the walking exercise concept today, such as in walking intensity, stance and so on,which are not uniform. As a researcher,it is difficult for me to draw a conclusion for one versus the other due to the lack of corresponding evidence. However, from an objective point of view,it is not difficult to find the reason for the difference lies in the difference between traditional health preservation concept and modern exercise concept, the traditional way put more emphasis on " attaining mental tranquility " and on "nourishing Qi " and " building up body ",modern exercise concept put more emphasis on pursuing external muscle body health. They can be complementary to each other, and should be tailored to the individual when developing a walking regimen plan.2.The study found that among 1375 participants, the proportion of people who owned the habit of walking regimen was 65.60%(902/1375),which was at a high level. The awareness level of the general population for walking regimen is low overall, especially regarding the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)involving health-care foods and drugs, acupoints, and gait preservation. The walking population was not evenly distributed proportionally among the different options regarding walking speed, number of steps, density, time, gait.Gender, age, whether walking exercise is considered to be a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health regimen, whether it is known to be more suitable for one’s walking pace, walking frequency, number of daily steps and other walking regimen, whether special movements or gestures will be fitted during walking, whether one’s breathing pattern will be deliberately adjusted during walking, whether frequent use of mobile phones during walking and music during walking are influencing factors for walking health regimen.3.The room and the need for proportion increasement of people walking for health still exist.Currently the major of walking regimen populations have difficulties on making their own walking regimen plans, including suitable walking pace, number of steps, density, time, gait, and so on.An increase in the research level of walking regimen is of great significance, and plenty of efforts should be made to explore and mine ancient walking regimen methods for promoting the development of this discipline of walking regimen. At the same time,in walking health behavior education, relevant theoretical methods of health ethology can be used, such as the health belief model,to promote the walking regimen behavior’s implementation among the population.
