Objective: To observe the clinical curative effect of the acupoint penetration needling on treating insomnia related to phlegm-heat,to discuss the basis of selecting acupoint and to analyze the relationship between curative effect and corporeity related to phlegm-heat.Method: To allocate 72 patients with insomnia related to phlegm-heat as the principle of random allocation into 2 groups(treatment group and control group)with 36 patients in each group, and to collect baseline data respectively. The patients in treatment group received the treatment of acupoint penetration needling, while the patients in control group received the normal acupuncture treatment.Every patient received once treatment a day,and 6 times treatments were regards as a course of their treatment. There was one-day rest after a course. Before treatment and after 4 courses of treatment, patients’ sleep condition was recorded by sleep monitor and PSQI chart and syndrome of Chinese medicine chart were also filled in.Clinical effects of patients in the two groups has been compared and the relationship between curative effect and corporeity related to phlegm-heat has been analyzed. Results: 1.Compared with control group, the total clinical curative effects of treatment group are better.2.After treatment, every grade and total scale from Chinese Medicine syndrome evaluation scale are both decreased and the decreasing in treatment group are more obvious(<0.05 Difference was statistically significant).3.After treatment, time of falling asleep and times of awakening are decreased in both groups, and the effects in treatment group are more obvious.Total sleep time, stable duration and sleep efficiency are all increased in both groups and the effects of treatment group are more obvious.REM duration increased and control group is stable(P<0.05 Difference was statistically significant).Unstable duration of both groups is stable(P>0.05 The difference was not statistically significant).4.After treatment, every grade and total scale are both decreased based on PSQI rating scale, while the decreasing of treatment group is more obvious(except sleeping disorders).5.The patients with insomnia related to phlegm-heat are mainly distributed in three constitutions, which are damp-heat constitution, phlegm damp constitution and vital energy deficiency constitution(P<0.05 Difference was statistically significant). The total clinical effective rate of damp-heat and phlegm-heat was better than that of other constitutions, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Both of acupoint penetration needling treatment and normal acupuncture treatment are effective and the effects of acupoint penetration needling are more obvious.Acupoint penetration needling can not only improve patient’s sleep duration and quality but also improve sleep structure. The types of insomnia are related to the constitution.Body and syndrome differentiation should be combined in the clinical diagnosis and treatment.
