| Objective: To study the characteristics of EEG power spectrum in patients with epilepsy comorbid anxiety and depression based on resting EEG.Methods: A total of patients with epilepsy who were monitored by video EEG in Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University from October 2020.to July 2021.were collected in this study.Under standard conditions, the resting EEG data were collected in the epilepsy comorbid anxiety and depression group(n=42)and the epilepsy comorbidity free group(n=45).The EEG power was obtained by EEG data processing with EEGLAB and MATLAB.The absolute and relative power of δ,θ,α,β and γ frequency bands, and the values of(δ + θ)/(α + β)were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between EEG power of each frequency band and anxiety and depression scores was analyzed. Results: 1.Comparison of EEG power spectrum of each site in each frequency band between the two groups: 1)The δ,α absolute power at T3 site and θ absolute power at F3,F4,C4,F7,F8,T3,T4,T6 sites in the epilepsy comorbid anxiety and depression group were lower than those in the epilepsy comorbidity free group(P < 0.05).2)The θrelative power at Fp1,F3,F7 sites in the epilepsy comorbid anxiety-depression group was lower than those in the epilepsy comorbidity free group(P < 0.05),while the β relative power at C3,C4,P3,O2,F7,T3,T5,T6 sites and the γ relative power at F3,F4,F7,F8,C3,C4,P3,T3,T5 sites in the epilepsy comorbid anxiety-depression group were higher than those in non-comorbid epilepsy group(P < 0.05).3)There was no significant difference in the values of(δ + θ)/(α + β)between the two groups(P > 0.05).2.Correlation analysis: 1)The anxiety scores were positively correlated with β relative power at F4,C3,C4,T6 sites and γ relative power at F8 site(P < 0.05).2)The depression scores were positively correlated with β relative power at C4 and T6 sites(P < 0.05).3)The depression scores were negatively correlated with θ absolute power at T3 and T4 sites(P <0.05).Conclusion: 1.This study found that comorbid anxiety and depression can affect the resting EEG power spectrum of some brain regions in patients with epilepsy, and mainly affect the brain regions with changes in brain network connectivity(frontal region, temporal region and parietal region).Especially the β、γ、θfrequency band power changes significantly. It is suggested that these brain region frequency band power parameters have a certain clinical value in the screening of anxiety and depression in epilepsy comorbidity.2.Our results show that anxiety and depression will not lead to the slowing of background brain waves in epilepsy patients without cognitive impairment, and the relevant EEG parameters reflecting the slowing of brain waves have little clinical value for epilepsy comorbid anxiety and depression. |
