Objective:The purpose of this study was to translate and to revise the English version of the“Self-efficacy Scale for Nurses to Assess the Nutritional Care of Older Adults,SE-NNC”,which was compiled by Italian scholar Federica Dellafiore. And the Chinese version of“Self-efficacy Scale for Nurses to Assess the Nutritional Care of Older Adults,SE-NNC”was used to test its reliability and validity of nurses in China, discuss its applicability in Chinese cultural background, and provide an effective and feasible tool to evaluate the self-efficacy of clinical nurses in the evaluation of nutritional care for the elderly.Methods:(1)After obtaining the authorization from the author and according to the《Guide to Scale Cross-cultural Debugging Process》,following the steps of"literal translation-translation-integration-expert consultation-pre-survey-forming preliminary tools",we translated the SE-NNC into Chinese version. The thirty clinical nurses were randomly selected for the preliminary experiment, and the scale was modified to form a Chinese version of SE-NNC according to the questions and opinions of the nurses,so as to complete the Chinese version of the scale.(2)Verify the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of SE-NNC.This scale is an effective tool to evaluate the self-efficacy of clinical nurses.According to the original scale and based on the convenience sampling method,300nurses from the central hospital of Wuhan were chosen as the research object.Using general situation questionnaire and SE-NNC as assessment tools,30 subjects were selected for repeated measurements one week later.Excel 2019 was used for questionnaire survey.Results1.Chinese version of the scale and its reliability and validity test results. The Chinese version of SE-NNC consists of 27 items from three dimensions:knowledge(nutrition and health care related),evaluation and evidence utilization and nursing implementation, among which knowledge(nutrition and health care related)includes 6 items, evaluation and evidence utilization includes 15 items, and evidence utilization includes 6 items. This scale is Likert 5 scale,1-5 points are scored from"no confidence at all"to"very confidence",and the total score is27-135.The higher the score is,the higher the self-efficacy of nurses in the evaluation of nutritional care for the elderly is.The Cronbach’sαcoefficients of all dimensions of the scale and the Cronbach’sαcoefficients of the total scale were all greater than 0.90,indicating high internal consistency of the scale. The retest reliability of the scale was 0.996,showing good stability. Results of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis showed that KMO=0.954 and Bartlett’s spherical testⅹ~2=5339.68(df=351,P<0.001).In exploratory factor analysis, three common factors were extracted by principal component analysis. The cumulative variance contribution rate was 68.97%~81.09%,and the loading value of each factor ranged from 0.516 to 0.862,all of which were>0.4.Results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that x~2=462.11,ⅹ~2/df=285,RMSE=0.067,NFI=0.919,RFI=0.900,IFI=0.967,CFI=0.967,TLI=0.959,all the result of factors met the standard. The Chinese version of SE-NNC scale has good validity.2.The status quo of nurses’self-efficacy in the evaluation of nutritional care for the elderly. The overall level of nurses’self-efficacy in the evaluation of nutritional care for the elderly was medium, with a total mean score of(92.58±23.30),accounting for 68.6%of the total score of the questionnaire. In terms of dimension score, the 340 subjects had the lowest score in the dimension of knowledge(nutrition and health care related),with a total mean score of(20.54±5.50).The second was evaluation and evidence use dimension, the total mean score was(51.22±13.31);The dimension with the highest score was nursing implementation, with a total mean score of(20.73±5.57),indicating that clinical nurses had a very low sense of self-efficacy regarding whether they knew and could acquire knowledge related to nutrition and health care. The skilled application in the elderly nutrition nursing assessment tools, such as simple nutritional screening scale, the human body measurements and nutritional risk screening tool on the confidence is insufficient, but it is highly confident to assess the nutrition change and malnutrition of the elderly timely and dynamically, and give individualized nutritional intervention.3.The nutrition for the elderly nursing assessment of the influence factors of self-efficacy.Single factor analysis of variance showed that results of age, form of employment, work unit, and whether the nurses were nutrition specialist were statistically different(P<0.05).Four factors with statistically difference in the single factor analysis of variance were put into the multiple linear regression analysis and the results shows that the self-efficacy of nurses in nutrition department was significantly higher than gerontology department(P<0.05);The self-efficacy of nurses aged over 40 was significantly higher than that of nurses aged 20-29(P<0.05);The self-efficacy of nurses with organization and personnel agency was significantly higher than that of nurses with contract(P<0.05);The self-efficacy of non-nutrition nurses was significantly lower than that of nutrition nurses(P<0.05).Conclusion1.The Chinese version of SE-NNC scale has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool for clinical nurses to evaluate their self-efficacy in the field of nutritional care evaluation for the elderly.2.The self-efficacy of nurses in the evaluation of nutrition care for the elderly needs to be improved. The main influencing factors are age, employment form, department of work and whether they are nutrition nurses. The training status of geriatric nursing/nutritional nursing/self-efficacy of nurses is still low and needs to be developed.
