Objective:Bauhinia variegate L.belongs to the leguminosae family(Leguminosae)genus Bauhinia deciduous tree.The roots,stem bark,leaves and flower of Bauhinia variegate L.have a long history of folk medicine.The stem bark can be used to treat dyspepsia and acute gastroenteritis.The flower has the functions of clearing heat and detoxifying,relieving cough and asthma,and reducing inflammation.Flower are also commonly eaten in folk dishes,but their use in large numbers needs to be scientifically proven.In order to scientifically prove the edibility of Bauhinia variegate L.flower,it is necessary to carry out acute toxicity test and study the nutrient composition,chemical composition and main component content of Bauhinia variegate L.flower,so as to lay a foundation for the development and utilization of Bauhinia variegate L.flower.Methods:The acute toxicity test of the extract was carried out in mice,and the edible ability of Bauhinia variegate L.flower was evaluated by the observation of toxicity reaction,body fluid examination and pathological examination.The nutrient components of Bauhinia variegate L.flower were analyzed such as kjeldahl method,gravimetric method and Soxhlet extraction method.After the extraction of methanol,the extracted water-soluble extract was separated and purified by separation methods such as Diaion HP20SS,Toyopearl HW-40F,Sephadex LH-20 and other materials;The structures of the isolated compounds were identified based on 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy data.Results:(1)By analyzing the acute toxicity experiment of mice,it can be seen that after gavage,the behavior of mice has no abnormal cry,restlessness,irritability or inhibition state of stimulation response.What has changed is that the color of eyes,mouth and nose of mice has become darker and bristles have been erected;After gavage with three kinds of Bauhinia variegate L.flower,the LD50 of mice were 30.24 g/kg for white flower,30.34 g/kg for pink flower and 33.79 g/kg for red flower;Through the examination of Bauhinia variegate L.flower,it was found that there was no significant difference in blood routine and urine routine between the drug group and normal mice;Through the heart section and liver section,it can also be seen that the heart and liver of mice in the drug group have no lesions,and there is no significant difference compared with normal mice.The above analysis shows that it has no acute toxicity and is edible to a certain extent.This research result will provide a scientific basis for the edible development Bauhinia variegate L.flower.(2)Through analyzing the nutrient content of Bauhinia variegate L.flower,it contains 17 kinds of amino acids,which contains the human body essential amino acids accounted for 38%of total amino acid,and it is considered that the ideal reference of the essential amino acid content in the egg white protein(40%)is close to,In addition,it is rich in various mineral elements,and contains high protein content and vitamin content.There is no significant difference between the three kinds of Bauhinia variegate L.flower by comparing their nutritional components.With its beautiful,slightly fragrant,it has a long flowering season and sheep hoof-shaped leaves,making it a valuable ornamental plant.In summary,it can be concluded that Bauhinia variegate L.flower has certain nutritional value.(3)22 compounds were isolated from the Bauhinia variegate L.flower:Bauhinia variegate M(1),pyrocatechol(2),protocatechuic acid(3),phydroybenzoic acid(4),2,5-dihydroxy methyl phenylacetate(5),trans-p-coumaric acid(6),cis-p-coumaric acid(7),caffeic acid(8),ethyl caffeic acid(9),trans ferulic acid(10),guaiacolβ-D-glucopyranoside(11),p-hydroxybenzoic acid glucose ester(12),(E)-2,3-dihydroxycyclopentyl-3-(3’,4’-dihydroxyphenyl)acrylate(12),chlorogenic acid(14),isoorientin(15),kaempferol 3-O-β-glucopyranosyl(1→2)[α-rhamnopyranosyl(1→6)]-β-glucopyranoside(16),L-tryptophan(17),p-hydroxybenzoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside(18),caffeic acid methyl ester(19),kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside(20),kaempferol-3-O-β-rutinoside(21),kaempferol-5-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside](22).Conclusion:The preliminary results of acute toxicity test in mice showed that Bauhinia variegate L.flower was edible,with 17 kinds of amino acids,a variety of mineral elements,high content of protein and vitamins,and had high nutritional value;Except compounds 2-5 and 14,the other compounds are isolated from Bauhinia variegate L.flower for the first time(compound 1 is a new compound),which provides a scientific basis for the edible development of Bauhinia variegate L.flower.
