| Objective This study mainly explored the care experience and feelings of the main caregivers to home hospice care for advanced cancer patients,and grasped the problems in the care process,so as to provide reference for medical staff to develop effective home care guidance and promote the development of home hospice care.Methods Use descriptive qualitative research,according to the biggest difference strategy,through purposeful sampling,choose primary caregivers of home hospice patients from tumor clinic,pain clinic and community hospital doctor’s office in 3 Third-Class hospitals of Hangzhou as the research object,then collect data by semi-structure interview,combine it with the home care content from field investigation,and take use of traditional content analysis method in data analysis,including coding,categorization,topic extraction,and analysis until topic saturation.Results A total of 13 main caregivers of home hospice care for advanced cancer patients were interviewed,and the following 4 themes and 16 subthemes were formed after analysis:1.Reasons for choosing home care:unpalatable choice,patient’s will and realistic consideration;2.Caregiver’s experience:Negative feelings:physical and mental exhaustion,loss of their own life,guilty for other family members;Positive feelings:change of life attitude,satisfaction of emotional needs,self-growth;3.Caregivers’ needs:external recognition,respite,care guidance,emotional support;4.The significance of home care:responsibility,the transmission of love and paying is a blessing.Conclusions The main caregivers of home hospice care for advanced cancer patients have heavy care burdens.They desire to seek external recognition and help.At the same time,harmonious family relationship is a strong guarantee for the quality of home care.In the process of care,medical staff should help caregivers to obtain professional care knowledge in time,pay attention to their mental health,and give counseling in time. |
