| Objective:A line graph model of survival rates for chondrosarcoma of the extremities based on SEER data and external data to validate and explore its clinical significance. Methods:Clinical data of chondrosarcoma of the extremities registered in the National Cancer Institute SEER database during 2004-2016 were extracted and randomly divided into 655 cases in the modeling group and 280 cases in the internal validation group in the ratio of 7:3.Independent risk factors affecting the overall survival of chondrosarcoma of the extremities were determined using one-way COX risk regression, lasso regression, and multi-factor COX risk regression analysis.Columnar line graph models were constructed based on their independent risk factors for survival, and the predictive ability of the models was tested using consistency index(C-index),plotting calibration curves and time-dependent ROC curves.Collecting 27 patients diagnosed with chondrosarcoma of the extremities at the Affiliated Hospital of Chuanbei Medical College from 2009 to 2020 as an external validation group, and again testing the predictive ability of the model using time-dependent ROC curves. Results:The results of univariate analysis showed that age, race, gender, tumor grade, tumor stage, whether to operate, number of lymph nodes cleared, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and tumor diameter were prognostic factors affecting patients with chondrosarcoma. The results of multi-factor COX regression analysis showed that age, tumor stage, surgery, number of lymph nodes removed, and tumor diameter were independent risk factors for chondrosarcoma of the extremity bone. The C-index of the modeled group was 0.848,and its area under the ROC curve at 3,5,and 10 years was 0.904,0.856,and 0.836,respectively.the C-index of the internal validation group was 0.835,and its area under the ROC curve at 3,5,and 10 years was 0.872,0.897,and 0.861,respectively.the established column line graph model was validated by C-index,calibration curve, and ROC curves to verify that it has good predictive effect. In the external validation group, the areas under the ROC curves at 3 and 5 years were 0.832 and 0.761,respectively.Therefore,the established column line graph model also had good predictive value for chondrosarcoma cases in the extremities of our hospital.Conclusion:1.The results of univariate analysis show that age, race, gender, tumor grade, tumor stage, whether surgery, lymph node clearance, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and tumor diameter are prognostic factors affecting patients with chondrosarcoma;2.Multivariate COX regression analysis The results showed that age, tumor stage, surgery, lymph node clearance, and tumor diameter were independent risk factors for osteochondrosarcoma of the extremities;3.Based on the SEER database, this study established a relatively complete and accurate line diagram for the prognosis of patients with chondrosarcoma of the extremities.A well-calibrated line diagram can facilitate the formulation of more personalized treatment plans for patients in clinical practice. |
