| Objectives1.To evaluate the current situation and influencing factors of professional spirit of nursing undergraduates;2.To explore the relationship between e-health literacy,social media ability and professional spirit of nursing undergraduates;3.To formulate health communication education intervention program and evaluate its effect on nursing students’ professional spirit.Methods1.Investigation on professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.Cross-sectional study:This study adopted stratified cluster sampling method from June 2021 to July 2021,selected four key and general key nursing undergraduate universities in Jiangsu Province,took nursing undergraduates as research objects,and conducted a cross-sectional survey of 797 nursing students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.The survey tools consisted of general data questionnaire,electronic media health literacy Scale and social media competence scale.Descriptive analysis,Chi-square test,T-test,variance analysis,Pearson correlation analysis,nonparametric test and multiple linear regression were conducted by SPSS 26.0 to explore the current situation and influencing factors of professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.2.The path analysis of e-health literacy,social media ability and professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.Cross-sectional study:Based on the first part,the survey tools consisted of the general information questionnaire,the electronic Media Health Literacy Scale,the social media Competence Scale,and the Professionalism Scale.Descriptive analysis,common method deviation test,Chi-square test,T-test,variance analysis,nonparametric test,Pearson correlation analysis,and Process mediation analysis were conducted by SPSS 26.0 to explore the effect path of e-health literacy and social media ability on professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.3.Intervention of health communication education on professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.Randomized controlled trial:This study published a recruitment revelation on the official website of a nursing undergraduate college in Jiangsu Province from April 2022 to July 2022,recruiting first-year nursing undergraduates who had not received any form of health communication education as volunteers.The enrolled nursing students were randomly divided into intervention group(N=50)and control group(N=51).Control group nursing students to receive conventional nursing education,intervention group nursing students in addition to conventional nursing education,but also to receive health communication education courses.Both groups of students are required to submit a health communication work at the end of the course.The topic is unlimited.Members of the two groups were measured before and after the intervention using the electronic Media Health Literacy Scale,social media Competence Scale and Professionalism Scale.SPSS 26.0 was used for descriptive analysis,Chi-square test,Mann-Whitney U test,t-test and linear mixed model to evaluate the intervention effect of health communication education.Results1.Investigation on professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.The average score of professional spirit scale of nursing students was 3.52±0.44 points.The average score of the six dimensions from high to low was sense of mission(3.80±0.55),self-discipline(3.57 ± 0.59),nurse job satisfaction(3.56 ± 0.60),professional organization(3.55±0.64),public service(3.35 ± 0.55),autonomy(3.22 ± 0.78).The average score on the electronic Health Literacy Scale was 3.64 ± 0.59.The average score of social media self-efficacy scale was 3.76±0.75 points,and the average score of social media experience scale was 3.03±0.72 points.Multiple linear regression results showed that whether they were willing to become health communication volunteers,whether they wanted to change their major,e-health literacy,social media self-efficacy and social media experience were influencing factors of professionalism(P<0.05).The average score of professionalism scale of nursing students was 3.52±0.44 points.The average score of change your major,e-health literacy,social media self-efficacy and social media experience were influencing factors of professional spirit(P<0.05)..2.The path analysis of e-health literacy,social media ability and professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.Among the findings:The total effect of e-health literacy on professionalism was significant(B=0.311,95%CI=(0.264,0.358)),and the direct prediction effect of e-health literacy on professionalism was still significant when the mediating variables were included(B=0.187,95%CI=(0.139,0.235)).E-health literacy had a significant positive predictive effect on social media experience(B=0.532,95%CI=(0.455,0.609)),and social media experience had a significant positive predictive effect on professional spirit(B=0.233,95%CI=(0.194,0.272)).Social media experience has a significant mediating effect between e-health literacy and professionalism(mediating effect=0.124,95%CI=(0.096,0.155)).3.Intervention of health communication education on professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.The results showed that before the intervention,except for social media experience(P<0.05),there were no significant differences between the two groups in professional spirit,e-health literacy and social media self-efficacy(P>0.05).After 4 weeks,there were statistically significant differences in professional spirit,e-health literacy,social media self-efficacy and social media experience between the two groups(P<0.05).After the intervention of health communication course,the two groups of nursing students had significant improvement in professionalism,social media self-efficacy and social media experience(P<0.05),but had no significant improvement in electronic health literacy(P>0.05)4 weeks later,There were significant differences in professional spirit,e-health literacy,social media self-efficacy and social media experience between the two groups(P<0.05).After the intervention of health communication course,the two groups of nursing students had significant improvement in professional spirit,social media self-efficacy and social media experience(P<0.05),but had no significant improvement in electronic health literacy(P>0.05).Social media self-efficacy have an effect on professionalism(β=0.22,P<0.001,95%CI=(0.17,0.26)).Conclusion1.The study found that the professional spirit of nursing students was above the medium level.Whether they are willing to become health communication volunteers,whether they want to change their major,e-health literacy,social media self-efficacy and social media experience are the influencing factors of nursing students’ professional spirit.Nursing schools may consider exploring ways to improve nursing students’ professionalism from the perspectives of e-health literacy and social media competence.2.This study reveals that e-health literacy of nursing undergraduates can not only directly and positively affect their professionalism,but also positively affect their professionalism through social media experience.In the practice of education,this study is of great significance to the intervention of professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.This study suggests that we should enhance the e-health literacy and social media experience of nursing undergraduates.Training courses on health communication on social media can be set up to enhance students’ confidence in health communication and encourage students to participate actively,which is of great significance for improving the professional spirit of nursing undergraduates.3.Health communication curriculum intervention significantly improved social media ability and professionalism,and revealed the educational value of intervention.In the future,the use of social media for health education will become the mainstream trend,and improving the self-efficacy of social media can also improve the professional spirit of nursing students and promote their confidence in the nursing industry.Therefore,schools should consider including health communication courses as compulsory courses in the nursing education system,so as to lay a solid foundation for training nursing staff who can carry out health education and health promotion suitable to their posts in the future. |
