| Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of uric acid to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio(UHR)and other metabolic indicators with alanine aminotransferase(ALT)in children with short stature. Methods: A total included 1484 children and adolescents with short stature who visited the Endocrinology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical College between 1 March 2013 and 31 October 2021,whose clinical data were collected and cross-sectional analysis. All patients underwent two types of growth hormone provocation tests to determine GH peak levels.Results:1.Univariate analysis of ALT levels and metabolic indicators in patients with short stature showed: ALT and UHR(β=0.39,95% CI: 0.25,0.52,P<0.001),UA(β=0.79,95% CI: 0.41,1.16,P <0.001),TG(β=0.02,95% CI: 0.01,0.04,P=0.002),Ty G index(β=1.04,95% CI: 0.16,1.93,P=0.021)was positively correlated.2.Smooth curve fitting and multiple regression analysis of ALT levels and metabolic indicators in patients with short stature:(1)Nonlinear relationship between UHR and ALT was found after adjusting for confounders. The inflection point of UHR was explored through multiple regression analysis, and it was concluded that when UHR<8.62%,there was no significant correlation between UHR and ALT(β=-0.19,95%CI:-0.53,0.14,P=0.252)When UHR≥8.62%,there was a positive correlation between UHR and ALT(β=0.47,95%CI: 0.25,0.68,P<0.001).(2)Nonlinear relationship between UA and ALT was found after adjusting for confounders. The inflection point of UA was explored through multiple regression analysis, and it was concluded that when UA< 6.62mg/dl,there was no significant correlation between UA and ALT(β=0.13,95%CI:-0.30,0.56,P=0.554)When UA≥6.62mg/dl,there was a positive correlation between UA and ALT(β=2.78,95%CI: 0.93,4.62,P=0.003).(3)Nonlinear relationship between TG and ALT was found after adjusting for confounders. The inflection point of TG was explored through multiple regression analysis, and it was concluded that when TG was less than 53.16 mg/dl,there was a negative correlation between TG and ALT(β=-0.09,95%CI:-0.15,-0.02,P=0.013)When TG≥53.16mg/dl,there was a positive correlation between TG and ALT(β=0.02,95%CI:0.01,0.04,P=0.007).(4)Nonlinear relationship between Ty G index and ALT was found after adjusting for confounders. The inflection point of Ty G index was explored through multiple regression analysis, and it was concluded that when Ty G index <8.22,there was no significant correlation between Ty G index and ALT(β=-0.68,95%CI:-2.01,0.64,P=0.313)When Ty G index≥8.22,there was a positive correlation between Ty G index and ALT(β=2.89,95%CI: 0.46,5.32,P=0.020).Conclusion: In patients with short stature, there was a nonlinear relationship between serum UHR and ALT level. When the UHR value reached 8.62%,UHR was positively correlated with ALT;UA,TG and Ty G index were also closely related with ALT level. Therefore,in the future diagnosis and treatment of short stature, attention should be paid to the change of each metabolic index to achieve early intervention for the occurrence and development of MAFLD. |
