| Objective:To observe the changes of clinical symptoms and signs of patients with acute tonsillitis before and after treatment by using thumbtack intradermal needle and routine acupuncture, and to compare the difference between the two methods in the treatment of acute tonsillitis. To evaluate the clinical efficacy of thumbtack intradermal needle in the treatment of acute tonsillitis so as to provide an effective theoretical basis for clinical application of thumbtack intradermal needle in the treatment of acute tonsillitis.Methods:72 patients with acute tonsillitis were randomly divided into two groups:thumbtack intradermal needle group(n=36)and acupuncture group(n=36).The thumbtack intradermal needle group was treated with thumbtack intradermal needle embedding therapy once, and the needle was retained for 3 days. The acupuncture group was treated with routine acupuncture, once a day,for 3 consecutive times. The scores of clinical symptoms and signs, disappearance time of main clinical symptoms and signs and VAS score of pharynx pain were observed and recorded before and after continuous treatment for 3 days, and to compared the difference of clinical efficacy between the two groups.Results:1.The scores of clinical symptoms and signs:After treatment, the scores of main symptoms, secondary symptoms and total scores in the pressing thumbtack intradermal needle group and acupuncture group were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the scores of clinical symptoms and signs were significantly different from those before treatment(P<0.01).The main symptom score, secondary symptom score and total score in the thumbtack intradermal needle group were significantly lower than those in the acupuncture group(P<0.01).In the scores of clinical symptoms and signs, there were significant differences between the thumbtack intradermal needle group and the acupuncture group in the main symptoms of sore throat(P<0.01).The differences were statistically significant in the main symptoms of pharyngeal mucosal congestion, secondary symptoms of cough and thirst, and the score in the thumbtack intradermal needle group were significantly lower than those in the acupuncture group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in fever, tonsil enlargement, tonsil pus spot, appetite, urination and defecation between the thumbtack intradermal needle group and the acupuncture group(P>0.05).2.The disappearance rate of main symptoms and signs:After 3 days of treatment, the disappearance rate of fever symptoms was 100.00%in the pressing needle group and 96.97%in the acupuncture group, and there was significant difference in the disappearance time of fever symptoms between the two groups(P<0.05).The disappearance rate of tonsillar enlargement signs was 76.47%in the thumbtack intradermal needle group and 66.67%in the acupuncture group, and there was significant difference in the disappearance time of tonsillar signs between the two groups(P<0.05).3.VAS score of pharynx pain:After treatment, the VAS score of pharynx pain in thumbtack intradermal needle group and acupuncture group was significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.01),and the VAS score of pharynx pain in thumbtack intradermal needle group was lower than that in acupuncture group after treatment(P<0.01).4.Clinical efficacy:The total effective rate of clinical symptoms and signs was 94.12%in the thumbtack intradermal needle group and 81.82%in the acupuncture group, with significant difference(P<0.05).The total effective rate of throat pain in the thumbtack intradermal needle group was 100.00%.The total effective rate of the acupuncture group was 84.85%(P<0.01).Conclusion:The clinical effect of acupuncture on acute tonsillitis is remarkable. It is superior to thumbtack intradermal needle in improving the scores of clinical symptoms and signs,VAS score of pharyngitis, shortening the disappearance time of fever and tonsil enlargement.Thumbtack intradermal needle can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and signs of patients with acute tonsillitis. |
