Chinese Version Of Acceptance Of Chronic Health Conditions Scale And Its Preliminary Application In Survivors Of Breast Cancer

Objectives:1.To introduce the Acceptance of Chronic Health Conditions Scale(ACHC),a cultural adaptation and reliability test was conducted on the Chinese version of the ACHC.2.The Chinese version of the Chronic Health Status Acceptance Scale was applied to breast cancer survivors to revalidate its performance,investigate the current status of chronic health status acceptance and analyse the factors influencing it at the individual,family and societal levels.Method:1.After obtaining authorization from the original author of the scale,Alexa Stuifbergen,and using an improved Brislin translation model,a Chinese version of the Chronic Health Acceptance Scale was developed through standardized procedures such as translation,back translation,expert consultation,and cultural debugging.After pre investigation and discussion based on feedback,modifications were made.305 breast cancer survivors were selected to fill out the general information questionnaire,the final version of the Chinese version of the chronic health acceptance scale and the disease acceptance scale by convenient sampling to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the chronic health acceptance scale.SPSS 25.0 and Amos 22.0 were used for data analysis,and retest reliability and Cronbach’s were used for reliability analysis a The coefficient and half reliability are evaluated,and the validity is evaluated through content validity,structural validity,and criterion related validity.The project analysis adopts item analysis method,critical ratio method,and correlation coefficient method.2.Using a convenience sampling method,177 cases of breast cancer survivors were studied using the General Information Questionnaire,the Chinese version of the Chronic Health Status Acceptance Scale,the Intrinsic Strength Scale,the Family Care Index Questionnaire and the Appreciative Social Support Scale to understand the current status of chronic health status acceptance among breast cancer survivors and its influencing factors.The data were statistically analysed using SPSS25.0 software,with descriptive statistics for general information and variable scores using frequencies,composition ratios,means and standard deviations;independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA were used for the effects of different individual characteristics on chronic health status acceptance;Pearson’s correlation between intrinsic strength,family care,social support and chronic health status acceptance was used.Correlation analysis was conducted.Result:1.The Chinese version of the Chronic Health Status Acceptance Scale has 10 items in 3 dimensions,and the differences between the high and low group scores of each item are statistically significant(P<0.05),the correlation coefficients between the scores of each item and the total score of the scale are 0.424～0.759(P<0.05),the content validity indices at the item level are>0.8,and the content validity index at the scale level is 0.96.The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the scale and the three dimensions were 0.797 and 0.753,0.702 and 0.701,respectively,with a half reliability coefficient of 0.756;the retest reliability for the scale and the three dimensions were 0.916 and 0.865,0.872 and 0.819,respectively;and the correlation coefficient for the validity of the association was 0.417.The exploratory factor analysis yielded three factors with a cumulative variance contribution of 62.094%;the validation factor analysis,showed a good model fit withχ2/df=1.920,RMR=0.044,RMSEA=0.068,GFI=0.940,CFI=0.907,PGFI=0.547 and PNFI=0.590.2.Preliminary results of the Chinese version of the Chronic Health Status Acceptance Scale showed that breast cancer survivors had a moderate level of acceptance of chronic health status,with a total mean acceptance score of 36.15±6.74 and a mean entry score of 3.61±0.67.One-way ANOVA and independent samples t-test results showed individual differences in chronic health status acceptability among breast cancer survivors by age,financial burden,disease duration and treatment modality(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001).The results of the correlation analysis showed that breast cancer survivors’ chronic health status acceptance was positively correlated with intrapersonal strength,family care,social support overall and its dimensions(r=0.272,0.349,0.298,P<0.01).Conclusion:1.The Chinese version of the Chronic Health Conditions Acceptance Scale has good reliability and validity,with clear semantics,accurate wording and Chinese language features after cultural adaptation,and can be used to assess the acceptance of people with chronic health conditions in China.2.Breast cancer survivors have a medium level of acceptance of chronic health conditions.In addition to individual characteristics such as age,family financial burden,disease duration and treatment modality,the internal strengths of breast cancer survivors,family care and social support are important factors influencing the acceptance of chronic health conditions,suggesting that the individual,family and social levels can be used as entry points to improve the acceptance of chronic health conditions among breast cancer survivors.
