Objective:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and recurrence of androgenic alopecia in men of the spleen-stomach-damp-heat type treated with a combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine,as well as the dermatoscopic symptoms and manifestations before and after treatment. Methods: In this research, the treatment group consisted of 30 cases with mild to moderate damp-heat androgenic alopecia of the spleen and stomach, and the control group consisted of 30 cases. The treatment group got custom-designed Shengfa granules mixed with these medications, while the control group received finasteride and minoxidil liniment. The treatment lasted for three months. The recurrence of the two groups was observed using a dermatoscope and a subjective grading scale as the efficacy criteria.Results:1.Both the treatment group and the control group were able to substantially improve the quality of life of patients with androgenic alopecia during the treatment period,as measured by the dermatosis quality of life scale(P 0.05).After stopping the medication, the treatment group was able to continue to better the skin quality of the patients with androgen alopecia, whereas the control group was unable to do so(P>0.05),and the symptoms progressively got worse.2.The subjective score scale demonstrates that both the treatment group and the control group can successfully improve a range of subjective symptoms throughout the course of therapy, with the treatment group having a more favorable therapeutic outcome than the control group. The treatment group had a curative impact among the other symptoms, excluding the severity of hair loss,1 month and 3 months after treatment(P0.05).The degree of alopecia 3 months after therapy and the subjective indicators 6 months after treatment, however, did not show any improvement(P>0.05).Various subjective symptoms could be successfully reduced in the control group both during and one month after treatment(P<0.05).But after three months of therapy, none of the markers showed any improvement(P>0.05).3.It can be seen from the dermoscopic signs that the difference in hair stem diameter and vascular signs could not be significantly changed before and after treatment in the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05),compared with the control group, the treatment group can improve the perifollicular sign and yellow spot sign during the treatment period(P<0.05).After treatment, there was no discernible change between the two groups. Conclusion: Shengfa Granule has a definite effect on male androgenic alopecia of the damp-heat type of the spleen and stomach, which is considerable when compared to the control group, and offers a novel treatment plan for those with androgenic alopecia.
