Objective:By comparing the clinical efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy(ESWT)targeting by chain reaction-trigger points(MTrPs)and traditional shockwave therapy for lateral epicondylitis(LE),this study verifies the safety and efficacy of shockwave therapy with chain reaction-trigger point localization in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis of the humerus,to further optimize the target selection and efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis of the humerus.Method:A total of 25 outpatients of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University who were diagnosed with lateral epicondylitis from February 2021 to March 2022 were included. They were randomly divied into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received shockwave therapy guided by chain reaction-trigger point for 5 consecutive weeks. The control group received traditional shockwave therapy for 5 consecutive weeks. The NRS scores,DASH upper limb range of motion, threshold and upper limit of tenderness at the lateral epicondyle, and whether adverse events occurred were observed and recorded in the two groups before treatment,in the first week, second week, third week, the fourth week of treatment, and at 3 months of follow-up.After the end of treatment, the patient was statistically analyzed and evaluated for efficacy.Result:After receiving a course of shockwave therapy, the pain NRS score and DASH activity score at 3 months decreased compared with the pre-treatment level(P<0.05).DASH activity significally improved in the experimental group(N=15)than in the control group(N=10)(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in the local tenderness threshold(P=0.825)and upper limit(P=0.696)at lateral epicondyle of humerus. There were no adverse reactions such as dizziness, redness, swelling of the elbow joint,or infection in both groups. Conclusion:Both tradional and chain reaction-trigger point guided extracorporeal shock wave therapy can significally relieve pain and improve upper limb function.Chain reaction-trigger point guided extracorporeal shock wave therapy have better functional improvement at 3 month than tradional shock wave therapy.
