Gait analysis is a commonly used research method in motor rehabilitation assessment.Optical motion capture systems are considered the gold standard for gait phase analysis because of their high accuracy. But motion capture systems are expensive, and have strict workplace requirements, the sight of the cameras is easily obstructed by obstacles, thus limiting their widespread application. With the rapid development of micro sensors, more and more researchers are using micro sensors instead of motion capture systems for rehabilitation assessment, using including plantar pressure sensors, accelerometers, and electromyographic sensors to analyze the gait of patients during walking. However, most of the studies are based on the patients’ ability to walk independently, and the above gait analysis methods are not applicable to those who need to use assistive devices to walk.Aimed at the problems in the current studies, this research designed an assistive vehicle for motor impairment rehabilitation assessment. The vehicle integrates two accelerometers, two six-dimensional force sensors,a monitor,a computer host, and a power supply. The symmetry of upper and lower limbs is both considered during walking. The rehabilitation assessment vehicle can be applied to the rehabilitation assessment of people with severe motor disorders who need to walk with the aid of the vehicle, and solves the problem that the current aid vehicle only has the single ability to assist walking. In this study,a dynamic time-amplitude threshold gait peak detection algorithm was improved based on the automatic peak detection algorithm. The gait period calculated based on this algorithm is compared with the gait period calculated by a motion capture system built based on the open-source human posture recognition system OpenPose to verify the accuracy of gait analysis by the assistive device vehicle. The accelerometers and six-dimensional force sensors data of patients at different stages of motor injury were collected using the assistive device vehicle designed in this study, and the key indicators affecting their walking symmetry were analyzed. The comprehensive evaluation method was established based on these indicators to score the symmetry of patients during walking. This study designed a graphical interactive interface, including data real-time display area, resultant acceleration curve graph area, resultant force scatter plot area, comprehensive scoring area and function area, which is convenient for the operator to use and can timely find out the asymmetry during the patient’s walking process and correct it.The motion disorder rehabilitation assessment assistive device designed in this study can assist physicians in quantitatively assessing the recovery of motor function of patients with motion disorders at various stages, especially when patients must walk with assistive devices, compensate for the shortcomings of inaccurate assessment caused by traditional subjective evaluation methods, and realize process-oriented operation, which can greatly reduce the huge workload caused by the shortage of rehabilitation therapists and the potential errors caused by the subjective assessment of doctors, and provide ideas for quantitative assessment of the rehabilitation status of movement disorders, which has extensive application value.
