The definition of "health" is broad and complex, and most scholars believe that "health" is a state in which all aspects are in good condition, such as physical and mental. There are problems of unbalanced and insufficient development in all fields of China’s economic and social development, and there are also problems such as unfair health of our residents. Some scholars at home and abroad have found that health inequity is accompanied by economic inequality, and the two may be amplified by each other, which is manifested in significant differences in health level, prevalence and mortality between different groups. With the widening of the difference in health status between different groups,it is not only detrimental to social stability, but also contrary to the goal of China’s social development. On the basis of the existing research, this paper uses the data of the China Health and Pension Longitudinal Survey(CHARLS)to study the relationship between commercial medical insurance and residents’ health equity, and uses the cross-sectional data of 2013,2015 and 2018 to comprehensively measure the health status of urban and rural residents in China from four perspectives: comprehensive indicators of health measurement "health level",different dimensions of health indicators "chronic disease","depression status" and "self-rated health".The OLS model was used to study the impact of commercial medical insurance on the health of urban and rural residents, and the current situation of health inequality of Chinese residents was analyzed from the perspective of urban and rural areas through the measurement of health concentration index.Secondly, through the decomposition of the health concentration index, this paper explores whether commercial medical insurance contributes to the health equity of urban and rural residents and analyzes the reasons. Finally, according to the results of this paper, relevant suggestions are put forward to improve the health level of urban and rural residents in China and alleviate the health inequality between urban and rural residents. The main conclusions drawn in this paper are: the health advantage of urban and rural residents in China is biased towards high-income groups, and the health inequality of rural residents is greater than that of urban residents. The impact of commercial medical insurance on the health of Chinese residents has gradually become significant since 2015,and there are differences between urban and rural areas. The impact of commercial medical insurance on health inequities between urban and rural residents is dynamic and can reduce health inequities between urban and rural residents to a certain extent.Commercial medical insurance has an impact on health by improving the use of medical services for insured people, and has a greater impact on low-income people, mainly reflected in improving the intensity of medical service utilization. |
