| Objective: To design and construct models of bilateral costal cartilages and the cartilage framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction with digital technology.Perform the surgery according to the plan simulated preoperatively, and explore the application of 3D printing technology in cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction during auricular reconstruction with Nagata method. Methods: From May 2021 to August 2021,9 patients with unilateral microtia were selected, including 7 males and 2 females,4 cases of right microtia, and 5 cases of left microtia, aged from 9-27 years, with an average age of 16.2 years. The DICOM data of the ear and chest were obtained by CT three-dimensional scan. The data of ear was imported into Mimics 21.0 to reconstruct the digital healthy ear, then the model of cartilage framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction of the affected ear was individually designed based on the healthy ear.Reconstructed and smoothed bilateral costal cartilages with 3DSlicer software, then simulated the construction of the framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction. The models of framework designed preoperatively were 3D printed by FDM and then were applied to assist sculpture of cartilage framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction. Results: All 9 patients with unilateral microtia had reconstructed the models of bilateral costal cartilage and the cartilage framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction with digital technology. With the help of the model, the cartilage framework for cranio-auricular sulcus reconstruction were constructed and the surgery were accomplished accoarding to the preoperative plan. Conclusion: The application of 3D reconstruction technology and 3D printing technology in auricular reconstruction with Nagata method for patients with unilateral microtia not only can simulate the surgical design but also help to personalize and improve surgical accuracy. |
