Study On The Prevention And Treatment Of Tinea Capitis In Yingshan County,Hubei Province,1977-1979

Tinea capitis is a chronic infectious disease that damages the skin and hair of the patient’s head.Based on the analysis of the characteristics and hazards of the epidemic of tinea capitis in Yingshan County,Hubei Province,and the relevant archives of the Yingshan County Archives and the Yingshan County CDC,this paper focuses on the measures taken by Yingshan in the organization and leadership,publicity and mobilization,medical prevention and control,and financial support in the large-scale tinea capitis prevention and control practice in 1977-1979 and their impact.Before large-scale prevention and control,tinea capitis was prevalent in Yingshan and showed three major characteristics:The prevalence rate is high and much higher than the provincial average;The number of high mountain areas is significantly higher than that of hilly areas,and ringworm is the main disease;The patients are mostly teenagers and children,and more men than women.The epidemic of tinea capitis has brought many hazards,which not only brings physical and mental pain to patients,but also makes the people in the sick area become prisoners of superstition in cognition,and at the same time causes huge obstacles to patients and their families in social aspects such as production,military participation,recruitment,school,marriage,etc.In order to eradicate tinea capitis,Yingshan has taken the following main measures in the large-scale prevention and treatment of tinea capitis:First,in terms of organizational leadership and prevention and control strategies,Yingshan adhered to the unified leadership of the Party,not only established a four-level prevention and control leading group in the county,from the county,commune,administrative area to the brigade,but also formed four prevention and control strategies,namely,mass prevention and control,scientific prevention and control,pest elimination and standardized management.Second,in terms of publicity and mobilization,Yingshan made full use of various forces and positions to carry out joint publicity,especially in terms of publicity content,focusing on the popularization,simplification and practicality of the harm,prevention and control significance,prevention and control knowledge and methods of tinea capitis;In terms of mobilization,we will combine general mobilization with individual mobilization,political education mobilization and praise mobilization,and extend mobilization to different groups,different stages and different links in the prevention and control.Third,in the field of medical prevention and treatment,focusing on the treatment goal of more,faster,better and more provinces,Yingshan trained the medical staff in the whole process of prevention and treatment,and organized a prevention and treatment army of more than 4000 people to carry out general survey and treatment in the whole county.At the same time,it continued to test and explore the treatment plan,and finally formed a comprehensive treatment plan of "shaving,washing,brushing,taking and eliminating" with oral small dose of griseofulvin as the core,and strictly controlled the guidance of treatment Process and quality control,so that the cure rate continues to increase.Fourth,in terms of financing,Yingshan insisted on self-reliance and raised funds in various ways to implement free treatment for patients in the face of financial difficulties at the county level.After three years of hard prevention and control,Yingshan County has reached the national standard for basically eliminating tinea capitis,and has become the first county in Hubei Province to basically eliminate tinea capitis.The success of the prevention and treatment of tinea capitis has not only greatly demonstrated the social participation of patients and families,but also significantly changed the doctor-patient relationship in rural areas and the public’s concept of health and epidemic prevention,especially the general public’s greater trust in the national political system and the closer relationship between the party and the masses.At the same time,the methods and methods of prevention and control of tinea capitis in Yingshan from 1977 to 1979 not only played a positive role in the comprehensive epidemic prevention of the whole county,but also had a direct or indirect impact on the prevention and control of tinea capitis in Huanggang,Hubei and the whole country.In short,the success of Yingshan’s large-scale tinea capitis prevention and treatment has many factors,among which the political,social,technical and policy factors are the organizational leadership of "unification and a chess game",the propaganda and launch of "multiple forces and multiple positions",the medical prevention and treatment of "small dose and large integration",and the epidemic prevention interaction of "national policy and local practice".This kind of political guidance,social participation,technical support and policy guidance is the historical experience of Yingshan tinea capitis prevention and control,which is not without reference to the epidemic
