Background:For women,long-term HPV infection is the most important reason of Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer.Concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy(CCRT)recommended by NCCN guidelines has become the standard treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer(LACC).However, studies have demonstrated that the extracorporeal deep hyperthermia is effective in the treatment of cervical cancer,so is the combination of concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy and intracavitary microwave hyperthermia more beneficial for cervical cancer? The purpose of this paper is to compare the effectiveness and safety of intracavitary microwave hyperthermia,in combination with concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy,to that of concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy alone in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer. Methods:A total of 220 patients(Figo stage Ib3 to IV)with locally advanced cervical cancer, who were treated at our hospital between December 31,2019 and December 31,2020,were included in the analysis.Divided into the intracavitary microwave hyperthermia plus concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy group(HRCT)and concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy group(CCRT)according to the type of treatment.During the period of concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, patients in the HRCT group received intracavitary microwave hyperthermia at a temperature between 40 ~44°C twice a week,45 minutes each time for a total of 10 times, and completed within1 hour before or after external radiotherapy. The two groups were counted separately, and the main comparative outcomes were overall survival(OS),local control(LC),disease-free survival(DFS),acute toxicity and lake toxicity. Results:A total of 170 patients were included in the study analysis.By January 31,2023,with a median follow-up of 31 months(range 5 to 37 months),there are 79 cases in HRCT group,91 cases in CCRT group, the overall survival rate(OS)96.2% in the HRCT group and 87.9% in the CCRT group,(p=0.048 p<0.05)was statistically significant;disease-free survival(DFS)was 81.0% in the HRCT and 72.5% in the CCRT group,(p=0.932 p>0.05)no significant statistical significance. There is no significant difference between the acute or lake toxicity in the two groups.Statistics showed that patients with older age, tumor diameter≥4 cm,and late Figo stage showed a higher risk of death and relatively poor prognosis. Conclusion:Compared with standard concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, intracavitary microwave hyperthermia combined with concurrent chemotherapy and radiotherapy improves the overall survival rate of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer without aggravating the acute or lake toxicity of patients.
