The aging problem of China’s population is becoming increasingly serious. In the face of the ever-expanding elderly population, how to make them enjoy a higher quality of life and lead a better life while prolonging their lifespan is an urgent issue for the government to address. The elderly are in a natural period of decline in their lives, and their physical condition continues to deteriorate as they age.Although China’s average life expectancy continues to increase, this is actually due to the decline in mortality among the elderly. While paying attention to longevity,we should also pay attention to the health status and quality of life of the elderly population. This can be measured using healthy life expectancy indicators. From a multidimensional health perspective, using the cross-sectional data from the China Health and Elderly Care Tracking Survey(CHARLS)in 2018,combined with the Sullivan method and entropy weight method, this article designed an evaluation method for comprehensive health level, measured and regressed the healthy life expectancy of elderly people aged 65 and above in China, and conducted multiple linear regression on the healthy life expectancy of elderly people with or without basic pension insurance. The research findings are as follows: With the growth of age,the impact of the psychological health level of the elderly population on the overall health level gradually increases; The physical health level of the elderly population changes significantly with age, while the mental health level is relatively stable;Basic old-age insurance has a positive impact on the healthy life expectancy of the elderly population:the elderly with basic old-age insurance have a longer healthy life expectancy,a higher proportion of healthy life expectancy, and a quality of life index than the elderly without basic old-age insurance protection;Women and elderly people living in cities have higher healthy life expectancy. This article innovatively studies whether basic old-age insurance,as a system that ensures the basic living standards of the elderly, can play a role in promoting the healthy life expectancy of the elderly. In addition, according to the definition of health, health should include physical, psychological, and social dimensions. However, most existing estimates of healthy life expectancy only focus on the physical level, ignoring psychological factors, and rarely consider healthy life expectancy from a multidimensional health perspective. Therefore, this study from a multidimensional health perspective also fills the gaps in relevant research.
