| Background:The clinical manifestation of early enamel caries is the appearance of white spot on the enamel surface, which not only affects the aesthetics, but also leads to dental caries, affecting the oral health.Resin infiltration has a good effect in the treatment of early enamel caries, but there are problems such as staining and aging easily. Objective:To study the remineralization and restoration effect of combining Bio Min F air abrasion with resin infiltration for early enamel caries, and to explore the effective clinical treatment plan for early enamel caries. Methods:According to the ethics review committee approval, the extracted premolars were selected and prepared as artificial demineralized enamel models. The teeth were randomly divided into 6 treatment groups:group A(resin infiltration),group B(Bioglass~?45S5 air abrasion),group C(Bioglass~?45S5 air abrasion+resin infiltration),group D(Bio Min F air abrasion),group E(Bio Min F air abrasion+resin infiltration)and group F(control). After different treatments, the specimens were subsequently immersed in artificial saliva for 1 and 4 w respectively. The changes of the color and morphological of the enamel surface before and after demineralization, immediately after treatment, and 1 and 4 w after remin treatment were analyzed by using colorimetry and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The microhardness and mean fluorescence density of the enamel surface before and after demineralization,1 and 4 w after remin treatment were compared and analyzed by using a Vickers microhardness meter and an inverted fluorescence microscope,respectively.Results:1.Colorimetric results showed that group E has the most significant change in enamel color after demineralization, followed by groups C and A,and group F had the smallest color change(p<0.001).Compared to group B,group D had a smaller change in color after demineralization(p<0.001).2.Scanning electron microscopy results showed that the enamel surface after demineralization was rough, accompanying with a"fish scale"structure. The pore structure on the eanamel surface significantly reduced in groups A-E after 1 and 4 w treatment.Meantime, the group E show the smoothest surface, while a flat surface without obvious depression in group C,a flat surface in group A,and mineral deposits on the surface in groups B and D.The surface smoothness of groups B and D was lower than that of group A,C and E with the application of resin infiltration. The group F showed no obviously change in the enamel surface.3.The microhardness results showed that the surface hardness values of the specimens in each group after 1 and 4 w treatment were significantly higher than those after demineralization. In addition, the hardness values increased with increasing treatment time.Amongst them, group E had the highest microhardness value, the order of the microhardness followed groups D,C,B,A and F(p<0.001).4.The fluorescence detection results showed that the mean fluorescence density of the demineralized enamel was the largest, while the normal enamel was the smallest(p<0.001).After 1 and 4w remin treatment, the mean fluorescence density of group E was the smallest, group F was the largest, and there was no significant difference in the remaining four groups(p<0.001).Conclusions:1.The application of Bio Min F via air abrasion(group D and E)can effectively promote remineralization of early enamel caries.2.Combining Bio Min F air abrasion with resin infiltration(group E)is more effective than combining Bioglass~?45S5 air abrasion with resin infiltrat ion and the use of resin infiltration,Bio Min F air abrasion and Bioglass~?45S5 air abrasion alone in restoring early enamel caries.3.Combining Bio Min F air abrasion with resin infiltration is expected to be a new solution for effective restoration of early enamel caries. |
