Objective: To investigate the oral health status of disabled children in Guangxi Rehabilitation Research Center for the Disabled and analyze relevant influencing factors,in order to provide reference basis for the oral prevention and health care work of disabled children in the center. Methods: The disabled children in Guangxi Rehabilitation Research Center for the Disabled were selected as the research object(disabled group),and the healthy children in the same area(Xixiangtang District)were selected as the control group(healthy group). All children who met the inclusion criteria were subjected to oral health examinations. This was to investigate the oral health status of the two groups of children. At the same time, oral questionnaires were conducted on the parents of the children to understand children’s oral health behavior, knowledge and parents’ attitudes towards oral health.By using Excel software to establish a database and SPSS27.0 software to perform statistical analysis on the data, the results showed that P<0.05 was statistically significant. Results: A total of 377 children completed this oral health survey,including(1)192 disabled children with an average age of 5.24 ± 1.28 years old,a male to female ratio of 4:1,a total caries incidence rate of 54.2%,a caries average of 2.0,a caries filling rate of 1.01%,a plaque index of 1.0,and a detection rate of malocclusion of 5.7%.There were differences in oral health status among disabled children of different ages, disability levels, disability types, parental education levels, and family locations(P<0.05).As age increases and disability levels worsen, the incidence of caries, caries average, and plaque index of children with disabilities increase; The rate of malocclusion in children with overall developmental delay was higher than that in children with other types of disabilities; The caries rate of disabled children with a bachelor’s degree from their parents was lower than that of disabled children with a junior high school degree or below from their parents. The caries filling rate of disabled children with a master’s degree from their parents was higher than that of disabled children with other degrees from their parents; The caries prevalence of disabled children with families located in the suburbs was lower than that of disabled children with families located in rural areas.(2)A total of 185 healthy children, with an average age of 5.62 ± 0.6 years,a male to female ratio of 1.3:1,had a total caries incidence rate of 73.5%,a caries average of 2.0,a caries filling rate of 8.8%,a plaque index of 1.0,and a detection rate of malocclusion of 4.3%.Among them, there were differences in oral health among healthy children of different ages, nationalities, and monthly family income(P<0.05).(3)The caries incidence rate, average caries, and caries filling rate in the healthy group were higher than those in the disabled group(P<0.05).(4)In the analysis of caries risk factors in children with disabilities, the need for assistance in brushing teeth, brushing methods, brushing frequency, brushing time, frequency of eating sweets, and age at which brushing began were correlated with caries in children with disabilities(P<0.05).Among them, the frequency of eating sweets and the age at which brushing began were risk factors for caries.(5)The awareness rate of oral health knowledge among parents in the disabled group was higher than that of parents in the healthy group. Conclusions: The oral problems and severity of children with different disabilities were different in Guangxi Rehabilitation Research Center for the Disabled.(1)With the increase of age and the aggravation of disability grade, the rate of caries, caries average and plaque index of disabled children were higher.(2)The rate of malocclusion in children with overall developmental delay was higher than that in children with other types of disabilities.2.The frequency of eating sweets and the age at which people start brushing their teeth were risk factors for dental caries among disabled children in Guangxi Rehabilitation Research Center for the Disabled. The risk of dental caries increased with the higher frequency of eating sweets and the later they started brushing their teeth.3.The caries filling rate of disabled children in Guangxi Rehabilitation Research Center for the Disabled was much lower than that of healthy children in the control group, indicating that the oral diseases of disabled children in the center have not received corresponding diagnosis and treatment, which should arouse the attention of teachers in the center, parents, oral medical staff and all sectors of society.
