Objective:To investigate the research status quo of and correlations between maternal personality traits, coping styles, and postpatum post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)and explore the potential mediating effect of coping styles on the maternal personality trait-postpartum PTSD relationship, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and control of postpartum PTSD.Methods:A total of 432 women who underwent postpartum follow-up visits in a tertiary hospital in Sichuan Province from August 2022 to January 2023 were surveyed using a self-designed basic information questionnaire,a short version of the Big Five Inventory(BFI-S),a trait coping style questionnaire(TCSQ),and a perinatal PTSD questionnaire. The software SPSS 25.0 was used for descriptive, univariate, correlation, and multiple linear regression analyses. The plug-in Prooesa and the Bootstrap method of sampling were employed to examine the mediating effect of coping styles, with maternal personality traits as independent variables, and postpartum PTSD as the dependent variable.Results:1.The mean score of postpartum PTSD was(13.23±5.49),with a range of 1-25,and 82 participents scored 19 and above, representing a positive rate of 20.50%.The scores of active and passive coping styles were(3.29±0.86)and(3.38±0.87),respectively,The scores of the BFI dimensions were(4.27±1.23)for neuroticism,(4.04±1.27)for conscientiousness,(3.94±1.20)for agreeableness,(3.95±1.19)for openness to experience,and(4.10±1.18)for extraversion.2.The score of postpartum PTSD varied significantly with the mode of delivery and the necessity of pediatric treatment(P<0.05).3.Postpartum PTSD was negatively correlated with active coping styles, opermess, agreeableness, and extravrsion, and the correlation coefficients were-0.408,-0.609,0.514,and-0.585,respectively,In contrast, postpartum PTSD was positively correlated with passive coping styles, conscientiousmess, and neuroticism, and the correlation coefficients were 0.517,0.574,and 0.634,respectively.Passive coping styles were positively correlated with conscientiousness and neuroticism, and the correlation coefficients were 0.288 and 0,349,respectively.On the contrary, passive coping styles were negatively correlated with extraversion, agreablenes, and openness, and the correlation coefficients were-0.288,-0.370,and-0.274,respectively.Active coping styles were negatively correlated with conscientiousness and neuroticism, and the correlation, coefficients were-0.259 and-0.196,respectively,There are positive correlations between active coping styles and openness agreeableness, and extraversion, with correlation coefficients of 0.275,0.373,and 0,256,respectively.4.According to the multivariate linear regression analysis using the postpartum PTSD score as the dependent variable, and multiple independent variables, including neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness, extraversion, active and passive coping styles, delivery mode, and transfer to neonatal care or not,the regrassion madel yielded an R2 of 0.778,and the adjusted R2 was 0.773.This indicates that the madel is a good fit as 77.3%of the variance in the dependent variables can be explained by the independent variable. The Durbin-Watson statistic wss 1.900,indicating no significant autocorrelation. The F value was 152.150,with P<0.001,indicating the statistical significance of the regression equation. The variance inflation factor(VIF)ranged from 1.061 to 1.479,all less than 30,and the tolerance ranged from 0,676 to 0.943,all greater than 0.1,suggesting that the independent variables were all independent predictors of postpartum PTSD without multicollinearity.5.The mediating effect analysis showed that coping styles played a mediating role in the relationship between postpartum PTSD and personality traits.Specifically, coping styles mediated the relationship between neuroticism and postpartum PTSD,representing 28.2%of the total effect(8.80%for active coping and 19.40%for passive coping);coping styles also mediated the relationship between conscientiousness and postpartum PTSD,accounting for 23.70%of the total effect(8.60%for active coping and 15.10%for passive coping);additionally, coping.styles produced a mediating effect on the relationship between agreeableness and postpartum PTSD,making up 41.8%of the total effect(15.90%for active coping and 25.90%for passive coping);besides, coping styles played a mediating role in the relationship between openness and postpartum PTSD,contributing 25.1%to the total effect(9.40%for active coping and 15.7%for passive coping),finally, coping styles mediated the relationship between extraversion and postpartum PTSD,standing for 26.8%of the total effect(9.8%for active coping and 17.0%for passive coping).Conclusions:1.The positive rate of postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder is high, and the risk of postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder is high.2.The influencing factors of postpartum PTSD are complex and diverse. It is necessary to fully understand the personality traits, coping styles, delivery methods, and whether newborns are transferred to the department of pediatrics, and provide targeted help and support according to the influencing factors.3.There are correlations between personality traits, coping styles and postpartum PTSD.Coping styles play a mediating role in the relationship between personality traits and postpartum PTSD.This indicates that personality traits can affect postpartum PTSD through coping styles;postpartum PTSD can be alleviated effectively by improving coping ability and styles. |
